Obama Admin to Surrender US Control of the Internet to Global Bureaucracy
The Daily Caller ^ | 9-24-2016 | Eric Lieberman

The Obama administration is planning to relinquish American control over a central portion of Internet governance.

The implications of this move range from control by an international bureaucracy to totalitarian regimes locking up entire portions of the Internet, according to experts.

At issue is US control over the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

“ICANN is arguably the single most powerful institution in the world as it relates to the global economy and communication. It has oversight authority over 300 million domain names, which number is increasing every day”, states Internet pioneer, Jeff Baron.

Didn’t Bush start this?I don’t care if they shut it down.I like to pray, think and read. Most teens strip in some programs. .AOL called me 15 years ago and said my youngest daughter was a pain in the neck. What parent needs this.Shut it down.

You're joking, right? Your attitude seems to be: "I gain no personal benefit from this particular thing, therefore the rest of the world can go **** itself. Let me fill you in on a small detail regarding the internet that you might have missed: Hillary would be a shoe-in for this election if there were no internet. In fact, we would already be a one-party police state if it weren't for the internet. You know how we here are always complaining that the news media constantly lies? How do you think we know that?

Hi Rita!

Cruz and Duffy R=WI are doing yeoman’s work on this issue...There are nearly 40 House Sponsors (going up weekly) and 6 or 7 Senate sponsors and other senators working with Cruz.

Trump has come out in support of the Protection of Internet Freedom Act—I have posted 2 or 3 articles on Trump support for Cruz bill. I think this has been ignored by many and not well publicized unfortunately and we are down to the wire.

It truly is crunch time...I have a thread in Breaking News...Need to get McConnell to put the language into the CR to be voted on this week...Please call your reps, leadership, whoever you can.

IF YOU LIKE YOUR INTERNET, YOU CAN KEEP IT? URGENT! 2 DAYS TO VOTE FOR PROTECT INTERNET FREEDOM ACT

This is a huge issue IMHO, and I have been very busy posting articles and calling legislative offices...feel free to ask any questions :)

I don’t care if Bush started it. I never considered him a conservative anyway, nor any member of his family. As for the rest, Reagan won without any internet in existence, but that was a different time. The level of daily brainwashing going on through regular media, entertainment media, music industry, university system and the public school system grades K-12 are on par with Orwell’s 1984. The internet is truly the only counter to that.

The opponent of the transfer, quoted in the article, was put into “virtual slavery” and looted by the Democrat machine, according to this article:

"Sue Obama administration to block Internet grab, group urges"

Internet giveaway

In June, Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., the chairmen of the Judiciary Committees of their respective chambers, wrote to Assistant Commerce Secretary Larry Strickling, stating the transfer would be illegal.

“As we are sure you are aware, it is a violation of federal law for an officer or employee of the United States government ‘to make or authorize an expenditure or obligation exceeding an amount available in an appropriation or fund for the expenditure or obligation,’” the letter says. “It is troubling that NTIA appears to have taken these actions in violation of this prohibition.”

August 13th article. Lists supporters of transfer. Where is this now?

Grassley and a few others have been sounding the alarm since Obama Administration announced transfer in early 2014. Congress even prohibited spending money on the transfer.

Congress is trying some amendments on the spending bill:

Yes to SB3031 HR5418

If that fails, they’ll be reduced to lawsuits.

If they fail, I don’t think the sky will fall this Saturday [deadline is Friday] ...

But ... the internet will be transformed for the worse.

Thanks for pointing that out -- I wasn't aware of that rule. But I think Obama's being groomed for some position of globalist influence, maybe the IMF, World Bank, or???

Maybe with his generous "retirement" benefits courtesy of U.S. taxpayers, he'll settle for being the bagman and "fixer" for Soros, Maurice Strong or some other subversive globalist oligarch.

I only hear Ted Cruz talking about stopping this trainwreck.

Ryan and "we will never shut down the government" Mitch, will do absolutely nothing. We don't have one king we have three.

Thank you for your work on this and the scoop on the signatures! It is a very big deal. Which brings back my point.

Why is Ted Cruz the face of the Calvary
on this? He actually hurts the cause.

Ted, on issues, typically goes after the low hanging fruit, whatever will bring the cameras out and martial his base. Ted is out for Ted.

The secret is that no action will be passed until after Obama is out of office. This likely goes nowhere before January 20th, certainly not during the heat of the countdown days to a presidenti election.

I think it is possible that Cruz knows this very well and I wonder if it explains why our usual sentinels are virtually silent, like Rand Paul, Louie Gohmert, especially Jeff Sessions, and Trump himself has made only one remark about it I know about. I mean to say, they are giving a heads up, yes, but none are pressing any panic buttons about deadlines, like October 1st.

Something seems not to add up, but it is already known that I believe if Ted Cruz is involved, I am suspect of the veracity of the cause. LOL! So, forgive me.

Also, I am stuck on my cell phone keyboard making it hard for me to communicate or elaborate. If I sound too blunt, that is why.

Thanks, bw!

Thank you. I know you, never too blunt...eh no more than me ;) LOL

Well, you know that I have NEVER EVER BEEN A CRUZER...However, fact is Ted is the face because he is the bill sponsor...plain and simple...He may be hurting the cause, but when I have spoken to offices, I get the feeling he really is trying...perhaps for his own gains, but I do believe he is trying. I wonder tho if you are not correct to the extent that McConnell does not like Cruz at all because Cruz called him a liar on the Senate floor...those things don’t get forgotten easily if ever...

This does not seem to be low-lying fruit...maybe he thought it would be...However, frankly the media is obsessed with autopsy of debates and has spent virtually no time talking about this...Oh and I have contacted numerous talkers...l ike Hannity...several times...They just don’t seem to care...

Duffy has been working on the issue for a couple years and was involved with the stoppage of this for the past 2 sessions. It has been stopped, so I am hoping it can be stopped again...which is why I am comitted to trying...

Duffy, being a fairly young (3-term) Congressman from rural Wisconsin does not get a lot of attention like a former Pres. candidate Senator who is controversial. Shame Greta left Fox, because I think she had him on for other issues—I think she would have pushed this issue!

Louis Gohmert is a House HR5418 co-sponsor and Jeff Sessions is a co-sponsor of Cruz bill SB3034. Not sure why they have not said more, but again seems everything is centering around the election these days...

I hope the calls made to congresscritters to be CO-SPONSORS will be effective...as they are ALL running for re-election...Maybe they will be responsive and get behind Duffy’s bill...Duffy and Ryan are on good terms with them both being from Wisconsin.

I am concerned about the Irreversibility of this action if it is not stopped...See article today by Frank Gaffney. Can Trump or someone stop this after Oct. 1? I don’t know :(

Thank you! Great summary!

You are invested and we should thank you for really taking the lead on this, to rally the troops!

This was very informative, bw. Maybe you would consider doing a vanity thread that updates as you kindly did for me.

I really appreciate your reply.

Thank you!
