United Nations Panel: U.S. Owes Black People Reparations for History of Slavery
Bretibarts' Big Government ^ | by Katherine Rodriguez | by KATHERINE RODRIGUEZ

A United Nations-affiliated group in Geneva is calling for the U.S. to give African Americans reparations for the country’s history of slavery, according to a recent report by the group.

The group’s statement was part of a study by the United Nations’ Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent, a group that reports to the international organization’s High Commissioner on Human Rights.

The group of experts, made up of leading human rights lawyers from around the world, presented its findings about the link between the U.S.’s history of slavery and present injustices, such as the recent police shootings of African Americans.

“In particular, the legacy of colonial history, enslavement, racial subordination and segregation, racial terrorism and racial inequality in the United States remains a serious challenge, as there has been no real commitment to reparations and to truth and reconciliation for people of African descent,” the report stated. “Contemporary police killings and the trauma that they create are reminiscent of the past racial terror of lynching.”

The panel said that police shootings of African Americans during the past year have caused a “human rights crisis” that is in urgent need of addressing and compared recent shootings to acts of lynchings in the late 1800s.

The group said the reparations could come in a variety of forms, such as “a formal apology, health initiatives, educational opportunities, … psychological rehabilitation, technology transfer and financial support, and debt cancellation.”

Ricardo A. Sunga, one of the panel members who was asked about the presidential race in the United States, talked about “hate speech … xenophobia (and) Afrophobia” prevalent in the race, but did not call out any candidates by name.

The reparations, however, are unlikely to occur since the group’s recommendations are non-binding and unlikely to influence policy in the United States.

Some where on a reservation, “OK Kimo sabe, who is going to pay for me and the land you stole?

I want Italy to pay reparations to me, because my ancient ancestors were Roman slaves. The Viking side of me was probably slaves too.

What about the $15 trillion we’ve spent on race relations over the last 50 years?

OK. For every dollar paid for reparations, 2 will come out of the US contributions to the UN budget. You will see them reverse their position quickly.

Seems fair to accept reparations if it includes repatriation to Africa.

here is a plan. tell the UN that they can take all the billions they and their nations owe us and just give it to black people instead. results, US pays nothing, UN can brag about how they did something for mankind for once. solved.

The legacy of barack Obama.

I want my cash from the Russians that invaded Bialstok Poland. I want cash from the Germans that invaded Bialstok. I want cash from the English that enslaved the Scots. I want money from the Obamatons that enslave me 4 months a year to fund all their nonsense through taxes

but first... Let’s see the arab slave masters pay. Or... How about the African tribal chiefs that captured and sold Africans in to slavery?

Offer to strip their citizenship, confiscate 95% of their wealth, and ship them to the correct part of Africa as dictated by their DNA. At that point it would be almost as though slavery never happened, certainly closer than would be the result of just dumping money on people who didn’t earn it. Think there would be any takers? Me either. Now, there’s an awful lot of Caucasians who were wrongfully denied admittance to college or employment specifically because of their race over the last couple decades (via Affirmative Action policies). Reparations for Whitey now!

Why no calls for other countries who participated in slave trade to give “reparations” to blacks?

Once that Pandora’s Box of Reparations is opened, there will be no way to close it without a full out war. Someone needs to remind the UN that the US is still a sovereign nation, that is not to be dictated to by foreign interest lobby groups. Not even a President Obama could fully change that.

Irish here too- where’s my money? I’m sure it will help me feel better about the suffering my relatives had to put up with. I don’t know their names, but I have flashbacks and depression about their slavery—honest.

So just let me know if the money will be sent by auto-deposit or if a check will be mailed..

And on behalf of my dead relatives-and me from me too- we feel better already... cha-ching!
