Air Force is losing pilots, and the headwind is getting worse
Stars and Stripes ^ | 25 September 2016 | Sig Christenson

The shortage stands at 723 pilots this year and is expected to worsen, reaching 1,000 in 2017, with no immediate way to plug the gap because the Air Force needs two years to transform a young officer into a fighter pilot. While active-duty pilot training will increase from 200 this year to 285 in 2017, it won’t begin to replace the lost talent and institutional memory.

Yes. The pussified services do not draw the men they used to.

The Robin Olds of the past wouldn’t last 6 months in today’s service.

Take a look at his quote on fighter pilots and weep for what has been lost.

I believe a lot of good men are waiting till “Obama” is no longer in office. I would not be surprised if a lot of the military positions like special forces and pilots are short on numbers.

The generals need more money. They can only afford 85 extra. It costs a ton; jet fuel, maintenance, crew care, Obama administration watching your every move for “bad optics”.

For every one pilot, you’ll need at least 25 people to back him up. From maintainers, electronic techs, radar men, network specialists, cooks, admins, security police, all the way to doctors and nurses.

And, of course, they weren’t allowed to buy enough F-22s. So now they have to bring in the much worse F-35s, and actually find pilots who want to fly them.

I did get a ride in a P-51D at an airshow. My fav. piston. Jet would be F-16.

There are some things that pajama boys/men cannot do as well.

We have become a nation full of them.

I suspect that we have the talent but they are bright enough to know they’d rather not kill on the orders of a corrupt government.

In light of what this country now represents, I would be heartbroken if any of my children considered enlisting. They don’t need to champion “gay marriage”, abortion on demand, and affirmative action around the globe.

I’m sure that part of the problem is that the Air Force insists on getting promoted or you get out. Some of these men and women just want to fly and don’t want the bureaucratic paperwork shuffle lifestyle of the modern Air Force officer.

Oh gee, you think it could have anything to do with them forcing a bunch of people who had planned and were qualified to do their twenty being forced to retire early? Which left them with no pension.

With the military current "up or out" policy, their tendency to ignore that policy if they want to cut people and those same cuts making it harder to find slots to promote people into any pilot would be justified in thinking that the Air Force is not exactly a optional career move.

Not to mention the PC nonsense in worse in the Air Force then anywhere else.

“Fighter pilot is an attitude. It is cockiness. It is aggressiveness. It is self-confidence. It is a streak of rebelliousness, and it is competitiveness. But there’s something else - there’s a spark. There’s a desire to be good. To do well; in the eyes of your peers, and in your own mind.”

Can’t have any of that manliness nonsense in today’s sensitive, faggoty, atheist, rug-munching military.

It could be that, the military commanders, aka: those civilians who actually run the military, have been eyeing the day when pilots won’t be necessary anymore.

Even today, we have drones being piloted from thousands of miles away, running bombing strikes against ISIS and Al-Qaeda. Eventually, there might not be a need for even a single pilot, other than those sitting on the ground piloting the “alternate Air Force” from thousands of miles away.

Anyone with any sense is getting out of obama’s military.

Except women, homosexuals, and transvestites, of course.

That's why Wright Flight is trying to get young people interested in becoming pilots.
