The mention of common sense in your second paragraph entirely contradicts your first paragraph.
If schools fixed problems like this when they are reported the picture wouldn’t have been the girl’s reaction. I grew up when there were no cell phone cameras, and hence a lot of gross building maintenance lapses in the schools.
The girl acted with what used to be called common sense and she got a problem fixed that would have gone on for months or years in a school populated only by you and clones of you.
Three cheers for a girl with a sense of what was called civic responsibility when I was growing up.

About a dozen years ago, one of my kids had an English teacher who was a hyper-liberal anti-racism, white guilt teacher. A real pioneer, although I didn’t realize it at the time. I just thought she was a bitter, divorced loon. That was true, too.
Anyway, her homework assignments were the first I’d heard of “white privilege.” One day, she was ranting about how Johnson and Johnson Band-Aids were flesh colored (your peach) because of white privilege. My kid raised his hand and said something about market forces and the local population. He then said, “In the Bahamas, the band-aids are all brown.” She asked, “How do you know that?”, assuming his parents had filled him up with information. He replied, “We went there over vacation. Not a “flesh” colored band-aid in the store.”

Your entire response is nonsense. Why waste time taking a photo and posting to a website, then waiting for something to be done? What was the lag time between the student noticing the problem and a school official learning about it?
Just immediately go report the water problem directly to the proper school officials.
And there was no information in the story establishing that the school would not have fixed the problem if informed directly about it. You’re making assumptions not supported by story presented.
A school superintendent with COMMON SENSE? Somebody get her a bodyguard fast. She’s on the NEA’s “Endangered Species Hit List”.

You are insisting even though entirely contradicted by every available piece of empirical evidence that the school would have fixed the plumbing if it were reported.
In the real world, the higher officials at the school district never learned of the problem until this blew up, and as has been mentioned in this thread the school now has an interim principal.
You can’t fix a problem at the campus level when the administration is a huge part of the problem. That is what we had here.
Unlike you, the girl did do something that fixed the problem.
Even if it was something you would lack the courage to do, and even if going beyond reporting something to the office offends your herd mentality.
She gets suspended for that, yet boys can claim they’re girls to use the girls’ room.
What if it has been reported and nothing has been done until now?
What if the school doesn't have any responsible officials?
