The reason they had not come down hard on Internet is that, initially, they thought it would benefit them. They believed their kind of ideas will be more easily spread and people will embrace them with open arms. However, it has turned out that it became the important means of disaffected and alienated mass to share their ideas and mount resistance against them.
They were first dismayed and sought to marginalize them with MSM. That has not worked. Their plan to fuse cultural leftism(such as PC, diversity and global warming) with free trade is facing stiff resistance. If they cannot stem this tide of popular backlash here, it will go global. They have to stop this at all costs.
I have been despising so-called champion of Conservative principles who are colluding with the left, to help dismantle nation state and national identity. The so-called conservatives can save their labor cost while the left can enlarge their political base to push their political agenda. The dismantling of nation state and national identity is their common goal. It cuts down production cost and advances leftist agenda. These conservatives have no problem living with this kind of leftists advancing their agenda as long as they can make good money.
They don't care their actions will cause long-term damage to the very foundation on which market economy relies on. The entire world will turn into crony capitalism. They will always have to pay political officials to secure some exclusive right or protect their own business. That way, they have a lock on market and prevent any new competitors from getting in. Sure market will still thrive, a kind of market which is not really competitive. This oligarchical marriage of big business and state will make sure it will stay that way.
Ultimately, business wants to defeat all competitors and secure 100% guaranteed revenue stream. Such desire would do good if the market stays competitive, but once business can influence government to interfere market on behalf of their interest, it starts to become counter-productive.
If buying politicians and government officials is cheaper than staying in permanently competitive market, they would have no problem with it.
Globalists want to have global oligarchy, where we live under PC-leftwing society co-existing with business oligarchy. Bushes and Romneys are fine with it. They like this facade of progressive caring patricians who know better, who feel that working to secure popular support is an inconvenient wasteful exercise. Craving for respectable cultural facade by the rich and powerful is nothing new in history. In another time, they would have been tripping over each other to show that they are devoutly religious. They embrace what passes as fashionable cultural trend. They just want to be beautiful people. That is what they try so hard to emulate liberal celebrities, while despising people who were their staunch supporters for so long.
It has been 25 years since communist bloc collapsed. We though that our problems are behind us and have a great future ahead of us, with no real challenge in sight. Many felt invincible for a while. Unfortunately, after a few years, we started our descent. We have been systematically destroying ourselves. It is not accidental. Elites began to perceive the very institution and social value which sustained the society they have lived in are obstacles. To further advance their bottom line and left-wing social agenda, they started to cannibalize their society. It resulted in stiff backlash now. Unfortunately, they do not see they did anything wrong as this article made it clear. Reactionary force is something to be eradicated, not accommodated. They no longer want to represent people. Opposition will be condemned, despised and eventually criminalized. They will be lumped together with rapists and burglars, may be even worse. They could punish political crime more severely than common crime. In current and former totalitarian countries, common criminals can serve their time in an ordinary jail, but political criminals will be sent prison camps which they cannot get out of unless they are shown to be perfectly reformed(brainwashed,) and that is no even guaranteed.
Oligarchs and their followers would surely laugh at us suggesting this outcome, but when it becomes a reality, would they have courage to object? Even if they do, would it really matter, except that they would become new criminals to be sent to prison camps where people they once laughed at will greet them?

Big government cannot be financed without taxes and big banks and big business want to avoid the burden of taxation placed on them.
User fees-sales taxes offer them the best out.
“Climate Change” is a way for the ruling forces of the global Corporatist Uniparty system (big government, business and big banks) to work together against small business and the individual with a new scheme of global taxation.
That’s the dirty little secret...religious conservative folks don’t abort their kids and tend to have slightly larger families over all...liberals don’t and have fewer kids. They need immigrants who are appreciative of liberals to pad their voting strength! Now while it is true that God has no “grandchildren” and that each generation has to find God... the positive direction is still there!
