Clinton's Last-Minute Debate Prep Includes an 'Affable Trump'
NBC News ^ | 8/26/16 | Andrea Mitchell

Hillary Clinton is doing more debate prep at a hotel near her Westchester home today, including mock rehearsals featuring an "affable Trump," NBC News reports.

The planning has evolved away from a focus solely on a more caustic rival, according to reporting from NBC's Kelly O'Donnell. Sources say, "We are betting now that most of our preparations are into dealing with the possible curve-ball that Trump comes out being more subdued."

The problem is that Trump won’t just be debating Hillary. He’ll also have to debate the “moderator” as well. And I don’t believe for one moment that questions haven’t already been leaked to Hillary.

-- Hillary is supposed to be this superior debater --

Her whole career, all that experience, facts at the tips of her fingers, well-developed policy proposals and so on. She beat Bernie every debate, according to the press. I mean, what's to prepare for?

Trump won’t be talking to Hillary.

He’ll be talking about her, above her, beneath her, and through her to the people.

This is about Trump demonstrating that he is the one to trust with your and your children’s future compared to Hillary.

If I were him, I wouldn’t stoop to engage with Hillary in any manner.

No, the yellow box has some kind of audio equipment in it.

...an automatronic hillary aid device in case she can't remember her lines?

Only the carpet is somewhat blue. Let’s see where she keeps her eyes.

Yup. If Trump is beatable, why run a scrim session?

She’s supposed to know how to handle a tough opponent.

Oh wait - Trump isn’t Bernie, who gave her a pass.

“Anyone else of the opinion that it’s possible to overprepare?”

I over prepped for a Calc test and lost it, forgot everything then panicked, the day of the test.

If one is a free thinker with confidence and actual abilities, then too much preparation would act as mental hand-cuffs as one tried to recycle the prep notes vs. actually thinking.

Totally agree with your point. Its good advice for younger FReepers. Early in my career I relied too much on memorizing briefs and soon learned that the mental hand-cuffs can work against you. Know your talking points well but don’t over script yourself.

I’ve wondered about that. What will Hillary do if she loses this election? Her entire life has been steered towards the goal of her being president someday. What do you do when you realize you will never reach your life’s goal, and you are such a miserable human being that nothing else matters to you in life????

I’m not sure they’ve actually said who gets which podium....but either way it’s a plus for Trump.

Has anyone got any confirmation earpieces are not going to be permitted? Last I heard the moderators will not be allowed them but nothing clear for the candidates.

Why should she have to prepare?

Her experience and record speaks for itself.

That would be a great question and observation for the Trump team to mention before the debate.
