American Experts: Religion Unlikely a Motive for ISIS American Followers
ASHARQ AL-AWSAT ^

Washington – A number of American psychologists ruled out the possibility that religion might be the main motive for the American Islamists extremists who used violence, especially those who said they are ISIS followers. These experts said that a huge number of them suffer psychological problems and cultural contradictions or even a failure in life.

John Cohen, a criminal justice professor at Rutgers University and the former counterterrorism coordinator at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, told Asharq al-Awsat that many of them have psychological and behavioral characteristics in common.

“Some studies reveal that they suffer dangerous psychological and personal problems regardless of their religious motives or identities such as moving from one job to another or difficulty making friends,” said Cohen.

The more devout they are the more dangerous they become. We’ve seen news story after news story interviewing friends and family that say this.

But they want that false narrative: Lone wolf, PTSD, nothing to do with Islam.

Did WW2 have nothing to do with the ideology of Nazism?

This is a reflection of liberal secularists trying to blame all violence on insanity, stupidity, people not being indoctrinated in liberal secularism instead of intelligent, deliberate decisions per an evil ideology.

OK, I’ll bite.

Yes, the primary motive is probably Ameriphobia. We have massive doses of this disease in this country of traitors.

The problem with Islam is that it feeds any hatred there is, and validates it. Islam hates anything that isn’t it. Islam says to destroy the things you hate, which coincide with what Islam despises.

So technically, perhaps the religion isn’t the prime motivator, but definitely feeds the prime.

“they suffer dangerous psychological and personal problems...........

..........caused by Islamic teaching.

Islam is a mental disorder that causes its adherents to be dangerous to all others.

This “soft science” is obviously about as soft as flaming marshmallow!!

It’s astonishing how deep you head can be in the sand. An obviously supremacist ideology that empowers men to embrace all their dark thoughts - so long as it is directed toward non-Muslims, the “wrong kind” of Muslim or helpless boys & girls.

...but everything is just morally relative so the reasons could be anything ;p

I’ll buy it if they’ll concede that islam is not a religion. It’s a death cult.

Lots of people have mental illnesses—they don’t join the death cult. ISIS is 100% about the cult of islam.

In other words, you’re mentally ill if you’re religious? How many of these psychologists believe in God?

It would be instructive in this regard to compare and contrast violence committed by Muslim fanatics as opposed to violence committed by fanatics of any other faith.
Does Muslim culture foster mental illness? Is there a higher incidence of mental illness among Muslim than other cultures? These important follow up studies have yet to be completed.
I await the continued efforts of these experts to explain the unusually high incidence of mental illness in Muslim culture.
I dare say they will determine it is the fault of hostility to Muslims that is the causative agent. A self fulfilling prophecy perhaps?

As it was in the former Soviet Union.
