I’m sorry for the loss for the team and Floridians. I’ve been on boats on Lake Washington at night and as you say, it’s totally different (and I found a bit scary); and, we’re talking a very large lake not maneuvering those types of waters. I guess my only question is why were they out on a boat at 3 a.m. - is that something that one normally does in FL?
Yes it is the main channel leading in from the Atlantic ocean through Biscayne Bay that all the cruise ships use and is famous for being a difficult channel to navigate for small craft during the best of circumstances.

Exactly bud and multiply that by three or four when you try it at night. Night-time navigation is a whole other world.My first three or four years in the back-country of Florida Bay were scary as hell. After that I started catching on how to read the water, waves,dark spots, light spots,stars, lights on shore,storms, etc.Takes time and experience to learn it.
Wasn't that despicable? And no one challenged his assertion that blacks are shot by police at far higher rates than whites... he just babbled on.

looks like they hit the jetty bow on then climbed it while falling over.
Do small boats often cut between that buoy and the North jetty while appproaching from the North? Telephoto lens distorts distance between jetty and bouy.
I traveled almost two thousand miles in the past month and never left the state. I went from the Keys to Pensacola hardly ever saw a hillary sign,but massive support for trump everywhere. Trump will surely win Florida! He is mentioned everywhere you go from the swankiest places in the state to the lowliest gas stations its all you hear,The Donald.

FNC is discussing the debate on all of their shows until early afternoon here on the left coast (may have it on in the background while I do other things). I suspect the other cable channels are doing something similar and that it will be non-stop all day tomorrow.

Actually they were “found” at 3:00 am. Hard to say when or what time they actually crashed or when they left the dock. Would not be unusual for a boat to have crashed hours before they are found. As a matter of fact that’s how it normally happens.
The Doc looked at the label and saw the word "rat".
I asked about cutting the buoy because I worked on a 65’ in NY whose cap’t. would do that regularly at high tide. (Only worked for *him* one season)
