Donald Trump's Shiny New Washington Hotel (New York Slimes alert!)
The New York Slimes ^ | Sept. 23, 2016 | Elizabeth Williamson

WASHINGTON — When Donald Trump labeled Mexican immigrants “rapists” in announcing his candidacy in June of last year, he lost contracts with Nascar, Macy’s, NBC Universal, Univision, even Serta mattresses. Not surprisingly, his three eldest children — Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric — began worrying about whether the marketability of the Trump brand could survive the campaign undamaged.

Worry they should, if Mr. Trump’s new hotel, which Mr. Trump himself opened last week, is any indication. The hotel is on Pennsylvania Avenue, a short walk from the White House, and to a lot of people, just walking through the door seems like a political act. Mr. Trump’s name festoons the key cards, the laundry bags, the bathrobes and slippers. It’s hard not to feel that a dollar spent there is a dollar for the Trump campaign.

“I don’t know who’s going to book it, because it’s so contentious,” a local convention planner said.

When Donald Trump labeled Mexican immigrants “rapists”

Did didn't. He said criminals of all types are coming up here from Mexico, including rapists. But he also said that many good people are among them. Big Media always conveniently omits that part, not surprisingly.

The millions who vote for him will save for a short stay there!

Some of us will just get to walk through the lobby!

Just imagine the price and glitter of an Inaugural Ball there!

It is called ‘free enterprise’. Risk and reward. Investment. Job creation. Revitalization. Re-purposing. Historical preservation.

What does the MSM call Hitlery’s new $1million home and what money did she use? Oh, yes, she and Bill are living of tax-payer funded Federal pensions.

Walked by his hotel before opening. Looks great and has a wonderful location for accessing the mall and local theatres. I would consider it a highly desirable location for any corporation hosting an event in Washington.

People are so envious and jealous of someone else that has what they cannot have or attain...

ROTTEN is the same way, her husband is the FORMER POTUS, but that doesn't follow ROTTEN’s name...S of S isn't good enough, Senator isn't good enough, FLOTUS isn't good enough, First Lady of Arkansas isn't good enough...she is a complete failure at every thing she does...

Trump on the other hand, talks to us, like we have been working a job together for years, living next door to each other for ever, sitting down across the table from one another having coffee or what ever he drinks, tea perhaps; and he walks down the street, people know who he is, he stops and has a conversation with the cop on the beat, the taxi driver, a shop owner perhaps...just plain ordinary guy, you forget he is World Known Multi Billionaire...and isn't that the way it is suppose to be???

Yes, agree with you. I asked him to sign a home made “Florida” Make America Great Again hat. ( they were not available over a year ago)

He did indeed stop to ask why I was at a VA rally from Florida...then signed my shirt too.

He could have easily brushed aside an old lady in a crowd!

You could book a room for next weekend for less than $400. A week ago, the minimum rate was twice that.,

A very slick, sneaky article. You can book a room for next weekend in the W Hotel for less then $400 dollar. You can book a room in the Hay Adams for $329. Weekends are always cheaper in Washington DC hotels. And prices change week to week in the hotel business.

“Can we have the FREEPER INAUGURAL BALL there??”

Didn’t Trump once upon a time make an offer to Obama to build a ballroom at the White House?

““I don’t know who’s going to book it, because it’s so contentious,” a local convention planner said.”

Uh, how about +50% of the population that supports Trump? Some of those are bound to be in the need of D.C. convention space.

Not to mention that when Trump wins, that place will be grossly overbooked for the next eight years.

Yep—and he wasn’t describing “immigrants”, but “illegal immigrants”.

“When Donald Trump labeled Mexican immigrants ‘rapists’”

Deliberate misrepresentation of what he said, i.e., LIE.

Besides, among the Border Patrol line agents, they ‘joke’ about illegal alien trifecta; DWI, Child molester, rapist.

Sounds like Trump has it right.
