Assad is defending himself from ISIS terror attacks.
Regardless of the fact that Assad's chickens are coming home to roost for his allowing al-Qaeda , now called ISIS, into Syria to use Syria as a base of operation for Iraq, Assad is now an important leader in the fight against ISIS/al-Qaeda insurgents
I hate Assad for his role in fueling the Iraq insurgency, but I dont hate him enough to hand Syria over to al-Qaeda Jihadi mercenaries

Each of the (many) factions claim they are the true Islam and the others are infidels and apostates.
I don’t see how we have a dog in this fight. Is it any concern of ours which faction is more pure Islam?
I get that Russia is doing this as a proxy war, but what’s in it for us? It makes no difference to us whether the Shiites or Alawites or Sunnis etc get the upper hand.
Whichever faction gets the upper hand at any particular time will be horrible to the other factions. This is history going back centuries.
Even the Kurds are split between Sunni and Shiite. Who wants in on that?
I hope Trump gets in before O’s crew completely fubars everything and gets us into a war with Russia.
