This Is How Russia Bombed the U.N. Convoy

The international reaction to Monday night’s devastating attack on an aid convoy in the Syrian town of Urem al-Kubra has been swift and furious. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in an unusually forthright speech at the General Assembly, described the attack as “savage and apparently deliberate.” He concluded by saying the fate of Syria could not depend on the “future of one man,” namely Bashar al-Assad.

According to a statement released Wednesday by the Free Syrian Army, 31 people in total died—19 civilians and 12 aid workers. The director of the local branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), Omar Barakat, was among those killed. At least 18 trucks carrying humanitarian aid were destroyed, along with a SARC warehouse and a health clinic.

While aid agencies are naturally hesitant to ascribe direct blame, suspicion fell at once upon the Assad regime and Russia, which are the only air powers operating in this area of Syria. . .

I think it’s been so long since we fought a war to win that we’ve forgotten what it looks like.

The truce was no more than an effort by Obama to rearm and resupply ISIS and Russia saw through it and took action.

The UN is not government.

It is a private organization.

It's highly likely that this was a false flag event by ISIS and/or related parties

Lets not forget that last weekend the “coalition” led by the United States violated the “cease fire” by attacking and killing 60 Syrian soliders and wounding many more in an air assault that last more than a hour.

The US claimed it was hitting Islamic State and made a “mistake”. Syria and Russia think it was deliberate.

After that attack the ‘aid convoy’ was attacked.

at this point, I’m prone to think that the UN convey was probably delivering arms to ISIS.

The Russians probably figured as much. Remember their “humanitarian” convoy to Ukraine?

That would come as a surprise to the men who ground Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan to rubble.

I wonder if the UN will try that stunt again. Russia ain’t Fu$&in about smartly and you would think it obvious that they are using real weapons, with real ammo, and are leveraging to keep Assad in place as the solution to a modicum of stability.

Arab spring and the resulting chaos IS indeed the legacy of BHO, HRC, & Kerry.

The UN is feeding the enemy. Russia has a right to defend itself from foreign aggressors.

Having watched some of the vids, unless they are of some other event, or were made or modified in Hollywood (or China’s new equivalent industry), it sure looks like an air attack to me.

It’s pretty clear this is Russian / Syrian “payback”. Why the Russki’s bother with explanations such as “maybe the trucks self-combusted” is what puzzles me. It just makes them look like some alter-ego of Baghdad Bob.

“maybe the trucks self-combusted”

Sounds like the Russian are suggesting there were secondary explosions in the convoy, that is, the convoy was carrying munitions.

What puzzles me... This happened in eastern Syria. So, this was a convoy from where? Iraq? Are we to believe UN convoys are traveling through ISIS territory? Either the convoy has some assurance of it’s safety by all the rebel groups or it would certainly be attacked and looted along the way, which means the convoy has assures from all groups....therefore the rebels are a coalition and we are indeed supporting ISIS. The return of the mustard gas meme/narrative...as before... is just an attempt to isolate up from ISIS in the media narrative.

Others have observed that the attack could easily have been done with artillery. Also, Russia has generally not been bombing with precision munitions: these weapons do not have near the accuracy needed to make the explosions that were indicated.

And even if they did use precision weapons, they would have had to had precise targeting information. As they teach in any military manual, there can be a striking difference between precision and accuracy
