>>Cutting off welfare would send millions packing on their own.

It never made sense to me to borrow from China and enslave our unborn with debt to give it to the illegals.

Trump could deport 4 million over his first term, just from new arrivals.

One year from today, September 22, 2017, at least twice that many will already be gone.

How do you figure?

That would be 8 million in his first 8 months.

Trump has said he is going to begin deportation proceedings against illegal gang members and thugs on his first day in office.

That’s two million according to official figures.

That will begin a stampede of bad guys.

Others, the otherwise law abiding, will want to be at the front of the line to get back in, and Trump is going to offer them a deal they probably can’t resist.

He’ll begin cutting off welfare, another stampede.

He’ll enact ‘no papers - no job’ adding to the flow.

By next fall, no papers, no school for the kids.

I could be underestimating the number at 8 million.

It’s going to be big.

:) would be good to see. I was living in AZ some years ago when they implemented a law and many vanished soon after but I believe the law got struck down or something I think.

Trump should deport 320 million people.

Just leave the Freepers behind.

Repatriating so many motivated people back to home to Mexico might save and revitalize that country. I believe it will.

They each bring back home with them, not just their motivation, but also the knowledge, skills, experience and wealth they've acquired while away, almost all of the key things that are missing in Mexico now because it left and came here.

If, while enforcing its border and law, America is a good, strong and encouraging neighbor, then the potential for an "everybody wins" happy ending is very high for both sides of that border.

It's a big ass mess on both sides now, but it doesn't have to be like this.

What has been done unto US, can be undone by US, but...

We'll have to vote for Trump in November for that change to have a chance of happening starting next January.

I think that Trump will definitely improve the illegal immigration situation, but I think that there will be more of a gradual ramp up, as some things have longer lead times.

Even if he changes Executive Branch policy on inauguration day, in most cases it will be months before results occur (like folks deciding to move back to their home countries), or even before many changes can be implemented throughout the bureaucracy.

Other good policy measures that he raised in his immigration speech, will require action by Congress. Some measures that require funding (like increasing CBP personnel) would likely not kick in until the next fiscal year - Oct 2017. Then there would be some additional delay in hiring and training.

The wall is a multi-year construction project. The slowdown in infiltration will occur gradually as areas are walled off.

And of course, some folks will resist all the way, jamming up legislation and filing lawsuits.

Overall, I expect a big impact, but I was surprised at your estimate of 8 million in 8 months. I think that would require a stampede of self-deportation - possible, but more than I expect.

as far as paying for the wall is concerned, trump could enlist billionaires like Lorenzo Zambrano, who ownes Cemex, one of the largest cement makers in the world, to pressure the Mexican government.

I like the cut of your jib, FRiend.

A lot of Rio Grande border area is a beautiful national treasure and it would be a crime to sully it with a fence. I support sullying THEIR side, though: its already pretty nasty, even out in the middle of nowwhere, with junked cars and litter.

I agree that it is simply not feasible to build in many areas due to all the cliffs and rugged terrain. Folks get incorrect the idea it’s all just rolling hills.

But just think of the social consequences of sending so many Mexicans back to Mexico. The influx would have profound effects. Many of them would no longer be willing to tolerate mordida and all the myriad defects of that culture after basking in ours.

I draw a comparison to the Battle of Athens.

It could result in the toppling of the existing power structure., so yay for that.

Yep, I agree. Human nature being what it is, something's going to change!

Personally, I think it will break to the good, especially if the changes are reinforced by a good neighbor to the North.

President Trump is in line to be the impetus for our next "rising tide", and a Mexico revitalized through repatriation will rise right along with US.

I don't know what the Vegas odds are, but I'd take that bet, and I will, too, with my vote for Trump in November.

Thanks. I’m a huge history buff. Something like this should have been done right after the Mexican War, or after when Eisenhower kicked out the illegals. If you look at the Southern border, it is very irregular. Having this 20 mile buffer between the nations would be beneficial.
