The fiery rhetoric of the 2016 presidential race may have contributed to a delay in the federal trial for a Houston man charged with supporting the ISIS terrorist group.
U.S. District Judge Lynn N. Hughes granted a defense motion to postpone the trial of Asher Abid Khan, 21, until Dec. 13 - after the November election.
...Hughes didn’t give a reason for the delay, but defense attorney Thomas Berg had asked that his client be granted a continuance so potential jurors would not influenced by the political discourse in the final push toward the election...
