IRS chief Koskinen says he was misled, doesn’t deserve impeachment

While acknowledging that the IRS bungled tea party applications, and that he himself gave wrong information to Congress, agency Commissioner John Koskinen told lawmakers Wednesday he needs to remain at the IRS in order to clean it up.

At a hearing designed to lay the ground for his possible impeachment, Mr. Koskinen implied he was let down by his subordinates, who allowed hundreds of backup tapes to be destroyed, losing tens of thousands of emails from former senior executive Lois G. Lerner.

It is the loss of those emails, even as they were under a subpoena issued by Congress, that has landed Mr. Koskinen in the hot seat, with conservative Republicans demanding he be ousted from office for his behavior.

Mr. Koskinen implied he was let down by his subordinates...

Then surely he's found the ones responsible for this and disciplined them, right? No? Has he even tried?

Hang him.

Lying or not, he as to go. If he’s telling the truth he failed to effectively manage his people. If he’s lying, enough said.

He has to be impeached for the simple reason he hasn’t quit.

End of story.

“I took an INSTANT dislike of the guy during those hearings. The smirk and the superior attitude was annoying as hell.”

He had nothing but contempt for Repubs in congress and conservatives during the hearings. Lock up the smug little weasel and take his pension.

It the same excuse the CEO of Wells Fargo used in senate hearing yesterday. “It was the 1% of my employees that did this”
The guilty smucks that got let go with their golden parachutes.
Hiawatha was giving him the treatment yesterday.

But we’re supposed to feel sorry for Koskinen.....

Double standard much?

“Hang him from a lamppost (politically).”

Hang him from a lamppost (period!), along with Comey, Lerner, and all the others who think lying to the American public is just a game. Let there be no doubt that this kind of misbehavior has deadly serious consequences.

Koskinen has brought this impeachment scenario on himself. He has earned it. A gentleman in his position would have already resigned. He, though, is no gentleman. He is a liberal...no conscience. Enjoy the proceedings, sir.

Did you fire those subordinates?

That should have been your first action. If you didn’t, you deserve to be kicked out the door with them.

Piano wire would be more efficient.

“At a hearing designed to lay the ground for his possible impeachment, Mr. Koskinen implied he was let down by his subordinates...”

There are only two possibilities here, he was complicit or he was incompetent. He’s going with the incompetent defense. Can’t do that and then also claim that he is competent enough to stay in the job.

If he had any self respect he would just resign.

Great - have him name the subordinates and bring them before the committee.

I bet they might actually have a different story...:^)
