That is true—the data also functions as ballast so that events that seem important now but will fade are not given quite so much weight as they have in the current poll. Also along these lines, I think Polls-plus gives more weight to reversion to mean.

Technically, it’d be 100% or 0% ... he either wins or he doesn’t. There’s no half presidency. Ask Al Gore about the value of some 537 votes (or whatever the final # was). We have to do everything we can to see that he is 100% the next POTUS.
