Scientists tell Donald Trump: Climate change is real
Santa Cruz Sentinel ^ | 09/20/16 | Lisa M. Krieger

Scientists to Trump: Human-caused climate change is real — and don’t mess with the hard-won Paris Agreement.

That’s the message of a new letter co-drafted by a prominent Bay Area climate scientist and signed by 375 members of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences, including famed physicist Stephen Hawking, biologist E.O. Wilson and 30 Nobel Prize winners.

Up until 40 million years ago, there was no ice at the poles. Weathering from the formation of the Himalayas and separation of Antarctica from South America allowing it to have its own air and water currents that trapped cold air there instead of circulation caused two miles of ice to form on that continent.
This pulled the temperature of the entire planet down 10-15°F.
What may have been tropical vs temperate cycles became ICE ages.

We have a long way to warm up before we are back to deep historical averages ... and since the world supported mega fauna and dinosaurs at that time, the world will be fine when it does.

I respect Bjorn Lomberg’s view that it may be happening but it is better to raise the standard of living and quality of life for billions so that they can better adapt than waste money for relatively little change if any on “climate”.
Build people power plants to power ACs, build durable homes that can withstand hurricanes, providing better healthcare so that the possible rise in infectious diseases don’t kill a bunch of people is the more MORAL choice and has more certain results than a bunch of environmentally dubious steps that keep billions in deep poverty.

Oh, I’m sure they’re well aware of it.

But IIRC the mission statement of the IPCC is that man made climate change (specifically global warming) is happening and that it is bad.

So guess what they find?

What percentage of these wise and sage signee’s are getting federal grants to ‘study’ the climate?

I need a federal grant to study the climate in Tahiti, Samoa, Hawaii and Australia...................It’ll take a loong time.........

What would really be a brawl worth seeing would be for Trump and Congress to say, that since they’re not sure of the parameters of the actual facts, let’s get scientists investigating down both sides of the question.

where the surface of the earth is directly under the sun, it gets hotter. the atmosphere convects, reacts. when that area rotates or tilts away from the sun, it gets cooler, the atmosphere changes, reacts accordingly. studying the effects of that is the whole of so-called climate science in a nut-shell.

thus, the sun—not man—drives the weather. period.

only an educated-fool, or a hoaxing thief could convince himself, otherwise.

Begged question city, huh.

There are a lot of parameters which can only be guessed. The simulators we have to date cannot literally dig down to first physical principles — we have insufficient data for that. So we basically have a display of a faked puppet show, with fudge factors galore.

That would be an excellent thesis to investigate. How do WE know the Sun has stayed at its present level of brightness through the lifetime of the earth?

It has been postulated that other constituents of the atmosphere can have an impact on overall climate — and yes they could, to a degree which has yet to be proven to reach the extents of what is believed about the earth’s history (through ice core samples and the like). However the Sun is indeed the elephant in the room.

For some reason, on reading your post and how you describe the models, I immediately thought of the part where he says “look at the monkey”: http://youtu.be/clKi92j6eLE

Because slyentists can talk brilliantly in an esoteric terminology, people tend to let themselves be wowed by it.

Climatology does not attract the smartest but C students looking for an easy ride in a government job. Weather forecasters, even astrologers, can find employment in the free market, but very few climatologists can.

Of course Climate Change is real!!!

There’s also nothing we can do about it, as it is natural.

It’s Man-made “Global Warming” that’s the hoax!

Agreed 100%. The earth has warmed many times and had ice ages many times, the climate has never been static for long periods.

Its the nothing we can do about it part. In the past there was nothing we could do about it, but now we can raise taxes high in every conceivable way, destroy capitalism, open the borders to 3rd world invasions, restrict personal liberty and establish global governments. This should prevent any future climate change.

“Announce that since the Science is Settled, there will be NO MORE TAXPAYER FUNDING OF GLOBAL WARMING STUDIES. Effective the Day I am Sworn In.”

Tada! Winner.

But just for $hit$ and giggle$ I would ask the scientists 1) How do they propose to fix it, 2) How much is it going to cost and 3) What happens if they are wrong and what is their risk plan to fix what they can possibly break?

Their response will be the same. “You are a racist.”

In the current, er, “climate” this appears to be the case. There is such a racket to be milked.

Aaaaamen!
Climate changes because of SUN activity, sunspot cycles, fluctuation is its output, we depend for 99.9% on this energy.

Climate changes because our father Earth axis wobbles, seasonal changes from winter to summer and in between.

Climate changes because Earth is turning, day to night, temperatures fluctuate.

Climate changes because weather is affected by volcanos, forest fires, water currents.

Climate (not)changes because Obama and tax scammers fart or pee in the ocean. 0.000001% if any

Sciencetwists are bunch of whores paid to make things up, lie, and “consent” to screw population with new taxes and distribution to lazy bums.

Got it “greeneeeess”???

The hypothesis of the day is that physical and chemical effects of the atmosphere have driven this, while the Sun has kept on faithfully shining like it was some constant reference in the National Bureau of Standards laboratories, or close to it.

Astrophysics has advanced to embrace the modeling and characterization of a lot of things, but how about star flicker on the time scale of millennia?

I believe climate change is real, and I have proof where I live. Yesterday it was warm, today it is cold.
