Video Released in Terence Crutcher’s Killing by Tulsa Police

The Police Department in Tulsa, Okla., released video on Monday of an encounter during which, the authorities said, a white police officer fatally shot an unarmed black man who could be seen raising his hands above his head.

The department opened a criminal investigation into the shooting and said the Tulsa County district attorney, Steve Kunzweiler, would review its findings. The federal Justice Department opened a separate civil rights investigation.

During the encounter, which took place around 7:40 p.m. Friday, Terence Crutcher, 40, was shot once and killed by Betty Shelby, a Tulsa police officer since 2011, after the police received reports of an abandoned vehicle blocking a road, the department said.

Video recorded by a police helicopter and a patrol car’s dashboard camera shows Mr. Crutcher raising his hands, walking toward a car and leaning against it. He was then Tasered by one officer, Tyler Turnbough, and fatally shot by Officer Shelby, the department said, though the view from both cameras is obstructed in the moments before those actions.

Tulsa’s police chief, Chuck Jordan, said at a news conference Monday that Mr. Crutcher was unarmed and did not have a weapon in his vehicle. Shane Tuell, a police spokesman, said Officer Shelby gave a statement to homicide detectives on Monday morning. She is on paid administrative leave, the department said.

Looked at both videos, and didn't spot an oncoming car.

It's at the 52 second mark of the Helicopter video. There's a dark SUV stopped in the opposite lane. Another car is actually visible behind it... leading me to believe it had been stopped there for at least a little while.

So you really think that? Really?

Yes, I absolutely do. If I parked my car in the middle of a road, then walked over to a police officer, acted erratically, refused to do anything they ask me, then stumbled away with my hands in the air as three more officers arrive, pull their weapons and yell at me to stop....

and then, as they're yelling at me to stop, attempt to open my car door? I think the chances of me getting shot are very, very high.

Like I said, until we have her side also, I go with the cops...

Not like I ever heard of the Baltimore 6 that were ALL acquitted

Or all the Dallas police shot by one man..

And then there is that lil thing about nobody upset at all about all the non-cop killings in Chicago.

So unless you havent noticed, there has been a lot of burning looting and harms to communities over people rioting over lies told and then given only 1 side by the the medial.

So my agenda is to wait for the whole story. Typically there a few things initially left out.

Here’s the officers’s side...

Crutcher had a hefty criminal record before he was shot. In fact, he had just been released in May after nine years in prison for drug trafficking, WZ reported.

He also had a history of resisting arrest. Behold the rap sheet:

1996 Shooting with intent to kill — Dismissed
2001 Petit larceny — Conviction
2004 Driving while suspended — Conviction
2005 Driving while suspended, resisting officer — Conviction
2006 Driving while suspended — Conviction
Driving with open container — Dismissed
2006 Trafficking in illegal drugs — Conviction. (He was also charged in that incident with assault on a police officer and resisting, but that was dismissed.)
2011 Public intoxication (while in prison for drug trafficking) — Conviction
2012 Public intoxication — Conviction
Obstructing an officer — Conviction
2013 DUI — Conviction
Resisting officer — Conviction
Open Container — Conviction
Failure to wear seatbelt — Conviction
Speeding — Conviction

But even all of that was not all.

Take a look at the numerous open warrants for Crutcher. These Aug. 30 warrants were active at the time of his death, and as you can see in the graphic below, they included things like DUI, resisting, drug trafficking and public intoxication.

Prison saves lives. Dunno why he wasn't in longer. He has plenty of time now to reflect on his past transgressions.

That aside. It still doesn't mean much to the shoot.

Have you ever noticed how many male cops are very overweight?

All police officers should be held to a standard where they can perform their necessary duties.

8 months later, the officer is ACQUITTED... As usual, the DA over-charged. But, with all the evidence presented, no jury could convict this officer.
