UPDATE 1:30am – Explosion in New Jersey terminal while bomb squad robot was inspecting a backpack containing “numerous devices”.
It was NOT a controlled detonation. Thankfully no-one was hurt, area previously evacuated.

According to New York Senator Marty Golden, media and eye witnesses, five men dressed in Arab garb have been stopped, and detained, by the FBI.
♦ They were heavily armed in the SUV according to the FBI who also said they discovered bomb making equipment
♦ Police and FBI said that three pipe bombs and two smaller explosive devices were found in Elizabeth, NJ (5 devices)
♦ All Amtrak and NJTransit trains were being held in Penn Station in Manhattan after the discovery at station
♦ The pipe bombs in New Jersey used flip phone timers and as did pressure-cooker device found in Chelsea
♦ It’s believed home-made bomb that exploded also used old-school flip phone as a detonator

I have the solution for this, but people don’t want to hear it.

We’re in NJ this morning. No trains into Manhattan so that takes cares of that. But this is not a one-off as my husband hopes.

Currently on a Metro North train from CT and nothing out of ordinary.
All trains along the corridor are shut down. No trains into Manhattan. Nothing can get past Elizabeth. Obviously, Metro North is not targeted, so not affected.

I always knew the northeast corridor was central to their plans. I feel boxed in; my NJ home is on that corridor and my NY apt. is several blocks from 23rd St!
