You are right from the "but" forward!
Trump had a list of military endorsements he wanted people to know about, but Lauer would have none of it. Instead, Lauer tried to portray Trump as inexperienced and not having the temperament to be CIC, something Trump hoped to counter with his list of endorsements.
Trump used the stunt yesterday to get his message out about the military endorsements, mentioning the "birther" stuff at the very end.

There was no bait and switch. He made a statement on the rumors started by Hillarys lackeys.
Exactly. Trump said he would make an announcement. After his military leader presentation, he made the announcement just like he said he would to. It was the media’s decision to tape Trumps event live.
There was no bait and switch. MSM baited itself with faulty memories. Trump originally demanded that Barak Hussein produce his BC and put the controversy to rest. When the blatantly fake BC was posted publicly Mr Trump said there it is. Case closed. Trump merely repeated his already publicly known conclusion. He was, however, not defending Hussein, but rather trying to put a lid on the Birth controversy because it was a dead end that brought no good. The truth is unavailable so long as Hussein and/or the Democrats control things.
Many thanks for that synopsis!
Trump got a twofer, got his message across about the military vets (that that media guy didn’t let him address earlier), and answered the ‘birther’ issue in a way that threw it back in illary’s face.
Thanks for your Thomas Wolfeian level of description!
To clarify, what’s the frog meme?
“Bait and switch means that one thing was promised and another delivered.”
Exactly, there was no bait and switch. Trump did indeed address the birther issue. It just was not what the media expected.
You see, it was either beneath him to follow these mundane rules, or he had something to hide. In either case, he did not, in the end, provide a certified copy of the birth certificate, but an image on the internet. Add to that the mysterious death of Loretta Fuddy, and there still are a lot of questions. You would think that any red-blooded journalist worth his salt would be more interested in that. Donald Trump is a logical man, and the logic of Obama's birth just doesn't add up.
The truth is unavailable so long as Hussein and/or the Democrats control things.

That’s the key element.
Nothing can be known until the perpetrators are out of power.
(from the linked article): During the 2016 United States presidential election, Pepe became associated with Donald Trump's campaign, and the campaign website for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton released an article stating that Pepe was associated with white nationalism.[11]
Aren’t those the new Deplorable line of Depends?
Time after time after watching Trump use my attractor fly analogy to devastate the mediots, I think of this by Wolfe:
If a man has talent and can’t use it, he’s failed. If he uses only half of it, he has partly failed. If he uses the whole of it, he has succeeded, and won a satisfaction and triumph few men ever know. Thomas Wolfe
To me it describes how Trump negotiates and wins or renders his foes into flopping scaly fish out of water because of their inherent weaknesses.
Obama also told the readers of “his” books that he was born in Kenya.
Trump is a master at trolling the media - and the media never seems to learn.
The news media is finally eating crow, and it is high time.
Very true, and they never learn because they're convinced they have no need to learn - certainly not from the likes of a Republican.
Today's Media:
I heard Trump had help from Pepe the Evil Conservative Frog to pull it off.
