Folks, log on to the internet web and google Hilllary Clinton Scheduled Campaign Events, and, scoll down the list. You will find it filled with "no name surrogates & fundraisers", but, few events where Hillary Clinton actually appears on stage or podium up to September 26, 2016, the date of the first POTUS debate. Go figure?
I can assure you they are polling to determine the weight to put on the debates. They are doing focus-groups on this. They will have data regarding the impact of backing out of the debates over the longer-term vs. the impact of any kind of episode occurring during the debates. They are using pneumonia as an inoculation against a coughing fit (the highest probability), they know there is no inoculation against something akin to a seizure - even a momentary lapse of confusion. They are doing a full risk assessment.
And that risk assessment will determine whether she risks the debate or attempts to double-down on the Trump is unqualified campaign. If they think the “unqualified” effort has legs, they may back out...once Trump is on stage with her, the optics change and with him knowing not to take the bait, he can outthink her and outtalk her with ease. She won’t be able to claim he is not on her level. That is the calculation - her only hope of keeping the “unqualified” campaign in place is backing out of the debates. But if her internals show her behind, as I think they do, then the risk assessment changes - and she has to risk going down in a heap (perhaps literally) in order to make up the ground by showing herself capable of lasting.
CSPAN 3 is showing coverage of it. Bet everyone will.

Her campaign schedule was always pretty light, even during the primaries. She tended to have only fundraisers, “organizing events” where she would meet with local campaign activists, and only occasional small rallies. She has depended almost entirely on massive amounts of negative ads, and letting her media lapdogs do the heavy lifting for her.
Here’s an interesting article from May 2016. No one deliberately choses small events, it’s just that she knows she can’t draw any type of real crowds.
