The myth of eradicated racism: A proof of the existence of white privilege

... My goal here is to simply explain what white privilege is and to demonstrate that discrimination against black people, both on a small scale and more importantly on a systematic and often-unconscious level, is still a huge issue...

Let’s start with job discrimination. A study published by John Nunley, Nicholas Romero, Richard Seals and Adam Pugh for the Auburn University Department of Economics found that job applicants with “black sounding names” were a whopping 16 percent less likely to get called in to interview for a job than their white counterparts, even when their resumes were otherwise identical.

Housing discrimination is also an issue. A new report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development found that when searching for a new home to rent, black people are shown 17 percent fewer available homes than white people.

The biggest issue is the hugely disproportionate numbers of black citizens (especially black males) who are currently incarcerated. According to the Bureau of Justice, in 2009 black people accounted for 39.4 percent of the prison population while whites accounted for only 34 percent. Blacks make up only 12.3 percent of the American population while whites make up a 63 percent. This means that the incarceration rate for black people is over six times higher than that of white people...

1) A disproportionate percentage of the prison population is black. Conclusion: race based.

2) A disproportionate percentage of NBA players are black. Conclusion: merit based.

That’s incorrect, and some of the worst racism expressed by black people today is towards other black people.

Tommy Sotomayor has done several videos on this subject, particularly focusing on violence and cruelty by dark-skinned black females against lighter-skinned classmates or acquaintances.

He talks about how black people have many names for lighter-skinned blacks, and for different degrees of melanin content. Words I've never heard before.

The implied premise in all of this sort of sham analysis, is that there is something wrong with high achievers passing on their achievements from one generation to the next. Demagogues targeting those who pass on their achievements, to sell their wares to those who have not equally achieved, are not helping the comparative failures, but diverting them from the paths to family success--from emulation of what works--to wallowing in counter productive envy & resentment, to blaming others rather than constructive behavior.

It is high time that we characterized these merchants of moral corruption for what they are; high time we recognized the enormous damage they are doing to those they pretend to care about. The worst thing for all of us, is the absurd belief that some sort of apology is needed for family achievement.

The Black to White crime ratio rises with the extent any community accepts the Leftist narrative on race. The White Leftist is the ultimate enemy of legitimate Black progress in America—there is massive evidence of this, but the Leftist media cannot be bothered to develop an honest narrative.

Haven't you heard? IQ tests are culturally biased to keep blacks down! < /libspeak >

Well they could change their surnames (as a family) if they really wanted to do that.

I see it more as expressing a wish that their children take their place in western society. Most do, some don't.

I know personally ABC (American Born Chinese) children with the names Maggie (Margaret), Luke, Leo, Oliver, Mira, Peggy, Irene, Maddie (Madeline), Hannah, Chris, Katherine, and Michael.

If there is a prejudice against "black sounding" names, likely this is because employers instinctively try to avoid hiring a new employee who may turn out to be problematic (e.g. hostile to other employees, chronically late, insubordinate).

The employer is likely reacting to the "black sounding" name in the same way as he or she would react to a job applicant who arrived for his interview wearing a backwards baseball cap and falling-down jeans.

Fair? No, undoubtedly there are thousands of Americans who have "black sounding" names who are great employees.

But many employers know they can't take afford to take the risk of hiring someone who will turn out to be unsuitable ... and who may then haul the employer into federal court with a lawsuit for "discrimination," when actually fired for cause.

You were using the rent/mortgage is no more than 35% of net income rule as the basis for not showing the unit?

If so, I agree it is not racism to ensure the new tenant has the financial stability to pay the rent consistently. That is just good business practice.

As I understand the rules, it could have been racism if you had shown the rental units to whites/other races that had exactly the same incomes you listed.

I have first-hand knowledge of a black employee of a financial institution in Philadelphia. The individual was unusually intelligent, and seemed to me to be a hardworking, productive employee.

I know he was local because of his accent.

He went by a very appealing "white" name in the office. I have always thought that he must have taken the name himself, as a conscious decision.

I didn't know him well; I would see him when I went there for meetings with one of his coworkers. But I certainly noticed him, and he impressed me; I've never forgotten him, even though I haven't seen him in fifteen years.

“Yellow” privilege is bigger problem ...

Job applicants with “yellow sounding names” were much more likely to be hired at high tech companies for an average of tens of thousands of dollar MORE per year than blacks.

Also the proportion of 'yellow' people in the prison system relative to their share of the population proves the Court System favors YELLOW people. In short, this article is crap... pure unadulterated bullsh*t... that proves nothing except the indoctrination of the idiot who wrote it.

More or less, yes.

Actually, I misspoke; Blank (blank, not Black, sheesh!) apps were sitting on top of a kitchen counter where people who were interested in renting could look and decide to apply or not based upon whether they liked it or not.

So, it wasn’t a matter of “showing” the place; anyone who physically picked up an app “saw” it.

So, where could the (illegal) discrimination come in? One could accuse a landlord who used the enquire > submit app > look sequence if they refused Shaneequa. One could accuse a landlord who used my sequence enquire > visit > submit app of turning down an unacceptable skin color.

This being America, there is no shortage of opportunity for one to be discriminated against.

I would not rent to someone whose rental was 70% of their pay. That’s asking for trouble.
