Why not have a first class nursery at the job site and allow the mother extra breaks?
It’s none of FedGov’s business!
The average number of kids in the US is 3.1.
So we are talking 18 weeks paid leave over the course of a life time.
Currently the law provides for 12 weeks of unpaid leave. California requires 6 weeks of partial paid leave.
It would not be European, it’s aimed at middle class families making less than $500,000 per year.
Mighty nice of him to force employers to pay for someone to not work for 6 weeks.
Exactly! Where the hell is "paid maternity leave" in the Constitution?
The upside: It will drain a bunch of Julia votes away from the Democrats. I doubt they can recover.
The downside: Once he does it we’ll actually have to pay for this.
Social engineering using forced Federal mandates and the already hair-ball complicated tax code.

So now we need to subsidize the childcare costs for couples making up to half a mill a year?
And how many small businesses are going to be eager to hire younger women, just waiting for the paid maternity leave requirement to kick in on their payroll?
Why not leave it to employers and/or employees to figure out on their own?
Trump trying to take women’s issues from Hillary. He is attacking on her strong points for getting votes.
There’s at least something of a Constitutional fig leaf for individual states deciding they want to impose this.

Trump is just plain wrong on this.
We need to cut all taxes, and restore the economy to the point where women no longer need to degrade themselves by working away from home.
The most important job in the world is raising children properly.

This would be better in terms of quality in childcare.
In any case we need to up our birthrates here in the USA to avoid getting eaten alive by the Saracens
6 Weeks maternity leave
3 Weeks Vacation
2 Weeks sick days
2 Weeks of various holidays.
That’s 25% of the year.
