Trump closes in on Clinton's projected electoral lead: Reuters/Ipsos Poll

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Republican Donald Trump appears to have carved out a wider path to the White House as a number of states including Florida and Ohio are no longer considered likely wins for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released on Saturday.

The project, which combines opinion polls with an analysis of voting patterns under different election scenarios, still shows Clinton would have the best chance of winning the presidency if the Nov. 8 election were held today. Yet Trump has caught up to her level of support in several states.

Over the past few weeks, Clinton's lead in the national polls has slipped considerably. Polls tend to narrow as Election Day nears, and the Clinton campaign has struggled to overcome controversy about how she handled classified information while serving as secretary of state. A separate Reuters/Ipsos poll of likely voters showed an 8-point lead for Clinton has vanished since the last week of August.

I’d gauge the lack of Clinton signs to be a lack of enthusiasm.

Even die-hard Democrats know hILLary is a deplorable person.

If college folks really mean what they say, hILLary should be a no go for them.

She breaks almost every cardinal rule.

I’m in Florida friend, and I’m sure you know the Panhandle and north Florida is a different world compared to other parts of FL (south FL and the I-4 corridor). We will have to work hard to overcome the population in those areas.

I found this in the comments section. In many ways, the Republicans are like rubes at a county fair (underlines mine).

"Some of you may have missed it as it was not covered by mainstream media. Obama has spent millions assisting "new immigrants" in registering to vote. In the past week, he pledged another $19 million towards this effort. It is widely known that these new immigrants tend to vote democrat. Keep in mind this is taxpayer money be used to sway the elections.

Here is my personal story since my wife is a "new immigrant" that recently received her citizenship. When we arrived at her citizenship ceremony, there was a booth inside, the only booth, that was selling Hillary Clinton gifts. There were no Republican gifts to purchase.

Once the citizenship ceremony was completed, the newly minted citizens, my guess is close to 1000, we're ushered to an exit. Guess what was waiting for them outside the exit? Multiple booths with signs that said, "Register to vote Democrat here."

The Dems are working hard to buy and manipulate as many "new immigrant" people as possible to vote in their favor and it starts as soon as people arrive in this country whether they are here legally or not. Handouts, manipulating citizenship ceremonies, keeping people on the gov't plantation."

The northern part of the state has been invaded and occupied by yankee leftists whose paychecks come from Uncle Sugar.

We do have a large number of military installations, but this ain’t the military of old.
It’s the Obama rainbow military.
More concerned about their taxpayer supplied hormone therapy than about the nations enemies.

I’m not optimistic.
But I am a glass half empty kind of guy.
