GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The remains of Jacob Wetterling have been found, according to his mother, Patty.
Patty Wetterling told KARE 11's Caroline Lowe Saturday morning, "All I can confirm is that Jacob has been found and our hearts are broken. I am not responding to any media yet as I have no words.”

Authorities recovered unidentified remains this week after Danny Heinrich, a suspect in the disappearance of Jacob Wetterling, agreed to cooperate and provide information, according to authorities.
KSTP first reported that the remains were found at an undisclosed location in central Minnesota and that DNA tests are currently being conducted to determine if they are the boy’s remains.
“Our hearts are broken. We have no words,” Patty Wetterling, Jacob’s mother, texted to the Star Tribune.
She later told KARE 11 Saturday morning that Jacob’s remains have been found. “All I can confirm is that Jacob has been found and our hearts are broken. I am not responding to any media yet as I have no words.”
Heinrich has been in federal custody since late October, after authorities arrested him on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. He was indicted in December on a total of 25 child pornography charges — five from October, plus an additional 20 related to possessing and receiving child pornography both in print and digital images. Some of the material featured children under the age of 12.
The child pornography case against Heinrich began building last summer, while authorities searched his home looking for evidence in both Jacob’s abduction and a separate kidnapping and sexual assault involving a 12-year-old boy in nearby Cold Spring, Minn. nine months before Jacob disappeared.
Jacob was 11 when he was kidnapped shortly after 9 p.m. on the night of Oct. 22, 1989, as he and his brother, Trevor, 10, and best friend, Aaron Larson, 11, rode their bikes to a Tom Thumb store not far from the family’s rural St. Joseph, Minn., home to rent a video.

Heartbreaking............
There is nothing worse than hurting a child. This is heartbreaking, and I can’t imagine the sudden impact of the loss of all hope and all self-delusions for the parents, even after all these years.
Another killer who is a pervert. I wonder if he’s killed more than one.

This happened a hop, skip and jump from my old stomping ground.. which the last few years has seen some pretty sick things happen.. and has begun a slide into decay with more ahead, regardless who is in the WH.. or Gub’s mansion.

I remember when that happened. It was so creepy the way it happened that is sounded like some legend people made up to scare kids.
The statute of limitation law is applied irregularly [is that a word?]
Why should deceased priests who are accused of molestation 30-40 years after the fact be charged when this creep whose DNA was found on the clothes of a Paynesville boy goes free from the charges since it is over 20 years ago.
I understand why there are limitations due to deaths of witnesses and memory fades, etc. However, in the case of DNA identification, why should this Danny Heinrich escape prosecution for molesting that boy?
In order to do that, one has to know the origin of this evil and what the appropriate remedy is.

Are you kidding? We have to know the ORIGIN of evil? What then? That’s pretty much like PC law enforcement/prosecutors saying “we don’t know their motivation.”
It doesn’t take a lot of brain cells to come up with the appropriate remedy for such beastly acts.
I was living in Minnesota at the time. I very clearly remember when he disappeared and the posters his mother put up around town. IIRC, I think she even went on national television (Phil Donahue?) to keep this in the public eye. So terribly sad.
The mother claims he was part of a pedophile ring based out of Omaha. She even said he came back to visit her in 1997, but was in fear for his life because of the powerful people who were part of the ring.
That's pretty much the time when people stopped letting their kids run around the neighborhood alone. Too many sickos out there and too many people that think they can be rehabbed.
