Evergreen State College president slams Chicago’s ‘tone deaf’ approach to safe spaces

The president of Evergreen State College is slamming the University of Chicago’s fight against political correctness, arguing that trigger warnings and safe spaces on campus are “critical” to students’ academic and personal success.

George S. Bridges, who has led the Olympia, Washington, college since October of last year, wrote in an op-ed for The Seattle Times that the University of Chicago’s recent letter to incoming freshmen blasting safe spaces and trigger warnings revealed “a profound indifference to concerns that many students now bring to colleges and universities.”

“Either the university is completely tone deaf to the academic and developmental needs of many students or is launching its own counterattack on what it perceives as an unwarranted assault of political correctness on campus. Or both,” Mr. Bridges wrote in his op-ed, first highlighted by Campus Reform.

If that was true, nobody would have succeeded before they were invented, but they did, so it can’t be true.

Evergreen State College was the pro Palestinian activist Rachel Corrie’s alma mater that lost a duel with an Israeli bulldozer.

University of Chicago has 89 Nobel laureates.
Bridges should mind his Cow Colleges business.

“a profound indifference to concerns that many students now bring to colleges and universities.”

Translation: Undermining the brainwashing which we have been performing on high school age children.

Back when 20 year olds weren't total wusses, trigger warning had a different meaning.

Funny, the more the left push these ridiculous theories, the dumber the students become. I think we can directly correlate the PC movement in colleges with unproductive little twits.

I agree with you, EXCEPT, if the courts end up becoming more and more liberal, even employers will eventually have to provide safe spaces, and to protect all employees who see themselves as victims or vulnerable. Given the proper legislators and judges, political correctness could eventually bankrupt the whole USA.

Evergreen should make the top five list of useless colleges in the U.S. It’s an embarrassment to our state, along with Gov. Jay Inslee, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, Sen. Patty Murray, Rep. Jim McDermott, and far to many more to list here. Idaho is looking better every day!

They didn’t really succeed. They pillaged and stole, using ‘slave’ labor.

I met a person who works in the administration of this college - a conservative - and this person is in deep stealth mode, in order to preserve his/her job. The leftist banshees at this college would fire this person in a New York minute if he/she was outed.
