Gene Wilder, who regularly stole the show in such comedic gems as “The Producers,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Stir Crazy,” died Monday at his home in Stamford, Conn. His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman said he died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 83.
He had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1989.

I was shocked to read that he was 83-years-old. I had no idea!
She was going to beauty school and her class mates found a magazine photo of Teri. They would hold it up for customers to compare.
Gene Wilder was one of those unique talents that is never going to be replaced.
The place that made him no longer exists.

I never would have guessed that was him.
I had no idea he was 83..I thought he was much much younger, time really does fly..and I had no idea that he had Alzheimer’s Disease..he was a legend..a true icon..we are losing all the great ones :(
Prayers up for that wonderful man and prayers for a cure for that hideous disease that’s blighted the lives of so many, including Pat Summit and my late father.
Too bad! He was a comedic genius. :( Rest in peace, Mr. Wilder.

Actually, I think it’s absolutely charming. My dad is 90 and my mother is 86, I have similar photos of them that I treasure. How blessed to have a long life and be with someone you love.
Young Frankenstein still makes me laugh until I cry...every time. And I recite most of the dialogue with them...I may have to watch that tonight.
That’s my favorite scene! He’s a lunatic!

I knew I remembered that name.
I watched a lot of Get Smart when I was a kid.
Before the reruns.
In the original version of Roald Dahl’s book, the Oompa Loompas were African pygmies. That was changed in later versions of the book. By the time the film came around, it’d be pretty unlikely that any remnants of the pygmies remained. But throw a link my way if you have one proving me I’m wrong on this assumption. Thanks.
