San Francisco 49ers Issue Statement After Colin Kaepernick Sits Through National Anthem

SANTA CLARA — Colin Kaepernick didn’t do much to warrant headlines with his performance on the field Friday, but he’s certainly in for his fair share of scrutiny after he sat through the national anthem before his preseason debut against the Packers.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com was first to report Kaepernick didn’t stand for the national anthem and got the 49ers to issue a statement on the matter. The statement from the 49ers to PFT:

“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose to participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”

Kaepernick has used his social media profiles to showcase his political beliefs but has never before made a statement of this magnitude. It will be interesting to see how the 49ers and/or Kaepernick address this further.

Maybe he will change his mind about this horrible country that so mistreats people of his race (or half of it) when we elect a black President. have two black Attorneys General, two black Secretaries of State and a black man heading DHS. I’m sure his attitude will change when that unlikely event happens.

If he wants to sit on the bench, I say let him, for the rest of the season.

Ever notice that biracial folks, the black parent abandons the kid, the kid ends up being raised by the white half of the kid’s parents or grandparents, and then the kid later on despises the white half and identifies with his/her black half?

Not sure what the exact statistics are, on your assumption. But, in this guy’s case, his bio mom (who is white) put him up for adoption, at six weeks. His bio dad (black) had nothing to do with him, since before his birth.

He was adopted (at six weeks), and raised, by white parents (The Kaepernincks), who already had a son and a daughter. They had lost two babies to heart defects.

So...Colin, for one, doesn’t fit your presumed scenario.

“He should make a real statement, demonstrate the courage of his convictions, quit football and become a community organizer.”

You nailed it. We will see if he has principals!

I heard his girlfriend is a muslim. Don’t know if it’s true but that would explain a lot.

Krapperdick should just go full muzzie now and become a failed suicide bomber: ‘failed’ as in blowing himself up before he could get to his assigned target.

Eff you to death, kappy!

They're paying $12 million this year to a guy who hasn't even been playing like an average NFL quarterback and will probably ride the bench for the entire season.

If an NFL team makes this kind of player personnel decisions, I don't expect them to get anything else right.

I hope nobody on the Pittsburgh Steelers, my hometown team, tries anything like this b.s.

In his case, one can only hope that NFL is an acronym for “Not For Long.”

“Situation normal in insane Pelosiland.”

Sorry, Pelosiland is about 40 miles north of Santa Clara. But they same $hit runs the show there as well. Probably Mike Hondaland. In Santa Clara, there’s a “little Nip” in the air!

The $ 12 mil was a signing bonus. Six years, $114 million, works out to $19 million a year. Oh, and $61 mil is guaranteed.

I'd love to be oppressed like that.

That seems to be the plan, sadly enough. Kaepernick has been on the fast track to NFL oblivion ever since defensive coordinators figured out how to stop him and he’s apparently not capable of making the new reads required to run his offense. He’s playing out a fat contract with the 49ers, since no other team wants him. Kaepernick is practically begging the Niners to cut him so he can claim that “racism” ended his career.

Wonder how many San Fran fans would like to have Alex Smith back?

This is just a continuation of Obama and his racial agitating, throw BLM in and this is what you get.

The times are mighty interesting.

Dumb Assembly,
He should read about the two sisters murdered last Thursday,
the girl on Spring break recently
or the young couple kidnapped years back.

Yet if a 49er had made a homosexual “slur” or something of that nature, the 49ers would have been “outraged” and disavowing any connection, with absolutely no regard for “freedom of speech or religion”
