NFL’s Kaepernick says he’s standing up for the oppressed by sitting during anthem

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Colin Kaepernick did not stand during the national anthem Friday because he refused to “show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he told the NFL Network’s Steve Wyche after the game.

“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way,” Kaepernick said. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has been outspoken on his Twitter and Instagram account about racial issues, including the Black Lives Matter movement, over the last eight months. His most recent retweet on Friday was of a New York Daily News story about Arizona teens who were told to remove Black Lives Matter shirts. The movement began in 2013 to protest violence against black Americans, especially at the hands of law enforcement....

Hey, Colin — SHUT UP and DO YOUR JOB...You play football... that is not brain surgery...(and you are NOT an Aaron Rogers, so at least try to be 1/4th as good as Aaron or Tom.)

Take away his million dollar contract and let him become a poor
community organizer. If he thinks he is oppressed now, wait until
he tries to put food on the table and pay the rent on a community
organizer salary.

I thought the NFL had something, some rule or other, that punished players that brought disrespect to the league. How much more disrespectful can this action be?

Sounds like secession and war. Not opposed to it. Just want to know how this is done peacefull. I googled National Divorce and got nothing. Is there a movement?

$19 million a year and the boy thinks he’s being oppressed by the American flag. Maybe it’s one of those too many hits to the head, concussion things.

Soccer players stand because it’s guaranteed to be the most exciting moment of the game.

“Soccer players stand because it’s guaranteed to be the most exciting moment of the game.”

Sorry, but I would rather watch paint dry than to watch the NFL, and I love soccer.

Another reason that I enjoy college football even more than ever, while the NFL and the NBA have pretty much shot themselves in the foot. There was a time that youth could look up to most professional athletes.

Somebody should remind Mr. Kaepernick that just about all of these deceased minority perpetrators he’s so concerned about wouldn’t be dead if they hadn’t refused to quit pointing their guns at the cops. Or if they hadn’t tried to steal the cop’s gun and kill him with it. In fact, if all these oppressed minority perpetrators had just gotten normal, non-criminal jobs and worked them conscientiously, most of them would still be alive today. Pretty much all of them would be none the worse for wear, and better off for the experience.

The NFL is fun to watch. On tape, so one can FF through the commercials and the random cretin who won’t stand for the National Anthem.

The NFL has gone leftist. I’m so glad I dumped them after they Refused the Daniel Defense commercial for the Super Bore. I don’t miss pro football one bit. Regarding the national “divorce”...I am so ready for it.
