Federal prosecutors say a former soldier who lied his way to a Purple Heart by faking injuries from the Iraq War cheated Washington state and the federal government out of more than $750,000 about three times what investigators cited when they first charged him with fraud in 2014.

Yeah, like John McCain, John Kerry, and a host of others. How much have just those 2 cost the American taxpayers?
Yeah well this guy got care. Injured and returned vets don’t
Yes, but how bout DOJ investigates how much hilLIAR’s lies have cost?
Bill’s?
Sharpton’s?
Warren’s?
John Kerry.
“Yeah, like John McCain, John Kerry, and a host of others. How much have just those 2 cost the American taxpayers? “
And, the “cost” to the American taxpayers for their “service” to us as government officials is far more costly than the money that they have both personally stolen from us. Indeed, we’re the ones who were “serviced.” I’m saving some good bottles of wine to drink when these two bastards die.
“I am hilary clinton. What difference does it make now?”
I think he will get whatever care he needs in the federal prison facilities. I really hate seeing these situation. This is far worse than simply crediting yourself with medals that were not earned, this is stealing from someone who really needed those benefits.

The larger problem here is the politically popular welfare system that makes such fraud possible in the first place. The notion that my past military service obligates America to provide me with medical care for the rest of my life is hugely popular but fiscally ruinous. As with so many well intended programs, the only real winners are government employees and contractors who skim off bloated expenses. Truly debilitating wounds and injuries are one thing, and we owe truly disabled vets some compensation for permanent injuries that impair gainful employment. But anything more reduces America’s veterans to just another interest group with their hands out.
I was appalled by this story. He does need to go to prison and a veterans administation that can allow him getting his un-deserved purple heart shares in some of the blame.
Too many dont
I remember discussions about John Kerry’s purple hearts that were more like band aid injuries. My beloved brother also got hit in Vietnam. It was a small piece of shrapnel that only required cleaning and a small bandage. He was good to go after ten minutes at the aid station. He was not an infantry man but an airman at the air base in Saigon. The injury was from mortar fire.
He did not get a purple heart because he did not apply for it. I asked him why he did not apply. He said, “I would have been embarrassed to ask for it as my wound were very minor.” He had seen real injuries on soldiers and airmen.
I think the courts have ruled that you can wear any award you want to. Especially if you are a politician.
Stolen Honor is now defunct.
It was however a common promise made by recruiters. Along with the likelihood that you would be assigned to a small island with hula girl dancing half naked on the beach.

That’s what a Purple Heart looks like, this is why you stand for the National Anthem.
Such people cannot be prosecuted. They can (and should) be publicly shamed.
