Donald Trump broke the conservative media
Business Insider ^ | 8.27.2016 | Oliver Darcy

Sean Hannity, sitting comfortably in his air-conditioned New York studios on a hot August afternoon, was on a fiery rant. "Honestly, I am tempted to just say I don't support any of you people ever," he barked. The Fox News host and conservative personality was fed up with Republican leaders in Washington — and he wasn't hiding it from the millions of listeners tuned into his radio program. "If in 96 days Trump loses this election, I am pointing the finger directly at people like [House Speaker] Paul Ryan and [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham and John McCain and John Kasich and Ted Cruz — if he won't endorse — and Jeb Bush and everybody else that made promises they're not keeping," Hannity exclaimed, later threatening to endorse Ryan's far-right primary challenger. The bombastic diatribe against the so-called GOP establishment was nothing new from Hannity. For years, he had cast himself as an outside crusader defending conservative values and principles from a liberal president and, even worse, cowardly Republicans who would allegedly bow to that president's demands. But in 2016, the criticism from Hannity and a vocal faction of the conservative news media reached a fever pitch. The occasional needling of Republicans morphed into full-blown, searing criticism. Even figures like Ryan and Cruz, considered by most to have iron-clad conservative credentials, were no longer safe. In fact, throughout the election season, it has appeared that Republicans have fielded more attacks from their supposed friends on the right than their political opponents on the left. It's an incidental twist, considering how Republicans helped foster the growth of the conservative news media in order to avoid the skewering of mainstream journalists. Instead, it appears their plan of using friendly pundits to

Amen.

We haven’t had a “Free” press for 100 years....all we were told were lies and more lies to create the Leviathan and with CIA created “groups”/Muliticulturalism/tolerance for evil indoctrination, and CIA-run magazines to control our “emotions” and “feelings”——to cement total control for the globalist psychopathic sodomites.

Time for Truth. The hard-core Truth (God/Reality)-—and as Machiavelli stated, “Truth is more hated than Lies”.

Watch the satanists writhe at the mention of Jesus Christ and Truth in the public square, words unconstitutionally banned by our “Just” (LOL) Laws since the 60s as they promote their satanic laws and satanic curricula to our children to normalize their evil, sick, warped worldview of Lucifereanism/humanism, which is antithetical to Freedom, God and the Constitution.

Democracy lives by conflict. It thrives under a press that questions power every day. We no longer have that, the American people do not have a watchdog with the current media and that is the sin. That is what this article misses, and it is one of the downfalls of our nation.

The Left is now ostracizing these tough, conservative media outlets. As if Alinsky was running it, they must isolate them, demonize them, and continually bang the drum of exclusion and hatred, with all hands on deck. Never go off message, and repeat, repeat, repeat. Useful idiots like Steve Hayes and Oliver Darcy are helping them to do it. Now they have attacked Bannon’s divorce, just like Obama had Jack Ryan’s divorce papers opened in his first US Senate race. The MSM is in lock goose step - instead of pointing at the cancerous rot and corruption in the body of Obama and Hillary, they point to the stain on Trump’s lapel and scream until they pass out on the fainting couch.

Conservatives have had to live with conflict all their lives, but not Democrats. That is why Dems react so violently when someone talks back to them. They file the the crudest of personal attacks - look at the despicable remarks aimed at Clarence Thomas. They think their own personal left wing beliefs dovetail perfectly with the Constitution and become unhinged when they are shown to be hypocrites because their policies actually shred the Constitution.

If America was on an an even playing field of ideas, the left would lose. That is why O-Care was passed in the dark of night, without debate, because it could not survive the scrutiny. That is why Hillary will not speak of issues, just Trump and the coming bogus scourge of white racist supremacy. Can you imagine, white supremacy is what we should fear - this is the level of political discourse.

The media knows this scam, she has given them orders, and Breitbart was right, the is a Democratic-Media Complex and it is destroying democracy.

Great post yours. As I read that Business Insider article, it occurred to me that what the author and his interviewees and the GOPe do not get is that we,about whom he speaks, now have access to the truth about the entire political class and their media henchmen ( and I include Rush and Hewitt with them). And Trump has flushed them out.

Truth and freedom have their own lure and charm. Pray God the ruling class loses to those who cherish truth and freedom.

Trump weeded out the Democrat-lite media figures, such as those that define conservatism as only less than what the Democrats want, versus small government, closed borders, fiscal conservatism that defines true conservatism.
There were other conservatives in the Presidential field, but they weren’t loud enough speaking for the disaffected conservative base that was why the Tea Party even came into existence.
There are too many upset conservatives at all the Republican elites that are happier as a barely opposing party than winning conservative one, court their base with conservative promises before caving to liberal elites, or even readily bash real conservatives to make liberals happy.

Listening to Levin’s radio show last night and callers were affirming that their Christian judgment and convictions would not allow them to vote for the snake that Trump is and whined about not having a choice. I think some of these people are either brain damaged or that naive? Likely would have had no problems with Rubio or Cruz though.

Nice post.

How many times do you read or hear about the need for “immigration reform”?

How many times do you hear that the “broken” system is simply OUR laws, passed by OUR representatives and Senators, and signed by various Presidents?

THERE IS NO NEED FOR “REFORM”. Simply enforce our laws (as you swore to do), and there is no problem.

“they make sure we know that Trump supporters are “working” class”

And they mean “working class” in a nasty way. It’s a dog whistle for their intolerance of normalcy.

And isn’t intolerance bigotry?

The only thing broken about the system has been the refusal by successive Presidents of both parties to enforce the laws.
Since the last amnesty Bill Clinton is the shining star for enforcement. Sad, but true.

The GOP has only offered up amnesty candidates in every election since the last amnesty.
They have groomed every incoming Senator to betray the citizens.

What Trump has done is exposed all those who claimed to be on our side who were in reality working against us.
Many in the so-called conservative media were in fact shills for the Cheap Labor Express.
Medved, Hewitt, Belling, and others aren’t even particularly subtle about it.
There have been some real surprises.

Ted Cruz should have endorsed Trump.

But the part where you say he was allowed to have bimbos and a madam on speed dial is nothing but gossip, which makes you no better than what you believe Cruz to be.

Adultery is sin. Gossip and spreading falsehood is sin. Sin is sin and all need forgiveness.

the GOP is going to change—even if Trump Looses (or is cheated out of the election) it will be reformed. Hillary will be a divisive figure who will become hated. Then, in the next election Donald Trump Jr. will run and win. Things will go from bad to worse before the needed changes will go into effect. If Trump wins—still possible—the change will be sooner and the Democrats will need to change and reform, purging from their ranks, progressive/communists members as well as BLM.

"Gossip" CONFIRMED by some of the bimbos that came forward and confirmed it. Still, that's not as bad as becoming Hussein 0bama's "Step and Fetch It".

Republicans are the model of stupid and disorganized.

Democrates are model of corrupt, relentless, vicious, diobolical and in lock step!

It appeared that, for conservative media, only one candidate could be conservative enough to support for president: Cruz.

Huh? I must have missed that.

Even the conservative Establishment wasn't that keen on Cruz. Sure, they got behind Ted when they saw him as the only alternative to Trump, but Cruz wasn't exactly beloved.

"We have reached the bizarro-world point where, for all intents and purposes, conservatives are RINOs," said John Ziegler, a nationally syndicated conservative talk show host who called Andrew Breitbart a friend. "There is no place now for real conservatives. We've also reached the point, I say, we've left the gravitational pull of the rational Earth, where we are now in a situation where facts don't matter, truth doesn't matter, logic doesn't matter."

It has a lot to do with the perception of a slick, Establishment style. Also, there's a dissatisfaction with what one might call economism -- the reduction of everything to the economic or materialist dimension.

In the 80s and 90s, the idea of global free markets and unrestricted exchange of people, goods, and capital was presented as the alternative to "statism." Now it's seen as globalism and an abandonment of national and local loyalties.

That has left conservatives who oppose Trump in a tricky position when trying to get their message to supporters. No longer can Ryan or Cruz turn to Hannity for a softball interview. They can't work with Breitbart or rely on Drudge to help with their legislative agenda.

These Republicans have effectively been exiled from the conservative news media, leaving them with a problem.

Seems a perverse reading of what's going on. If you've got National Review and the Weekly Standard you've got some pretty big media there. Talk about "exile" because there are other players in the game looks whiny and weak.

"If you are a conservative talk show host, which I am, if you don't accept that it's likely Hillary Clinton has taken part in multiple murders, or that Barack Obama is a Muslim extremist sympathizer who was probably born outside this country — if you don't accept those two things, it's almost as if you're a sellout. You're a RINO. You're somehow part of the liberal elite. It's nuts. It's making my own show very difficult to do. It's almost where to the point where we are not able to function."

I don't really see that, either. It looks to me like when it comes to conspiracy theories believers and unbelievers get along with each other. It may be other issues that make Ziegler feel out of place. Maybe it's just that pro-Trump versus anti-Trump is a gap that can't be bridged.
