The problem is education and awareness. When a Dr writes a script for “EpiPen” they have to give them exactly an EpiPen. That is their trump card. If they would write a generic script and let the pharmacist show the patient how to use the particular device being dispensed, this problem would go away.
I sould also mention that while the pens shuld be cheap to make, the giummit aproval process for each design would be, well...

Read something that told of some EMT’s that bought epinephrine (it’s cheap), put it together with syringes in kits, and trained their personnel to use them, thus avoiding getting reamed for EpiPens. Americans will find a way.

I’m the side effect Queen, so I know most drugs don’t work, and have to many side effects you aren’t told about.
Then you hit situations like my Niece’s the STUPID Primary she is stuck with because of her ins plan, won’t send her to the right doctors, she needs a Hemo, Gastro, Neuro and Rhuemy, she can’t keep food down, frequent ER trips, where they accuse her of wanting pain meds. All she wants is the Puking stopped. Primary says she has RA based on just X-Rays, puts her on GUT destroying MOBIC for the joint pain not a RA med...duh blood test tells you that. Liver damage from the pills they put her on for seizure issues, Red cells are now abnormal..that is a Hemo’s field. GI issues are a Gastro’s and seizures don’t need a Malaria drug that causes seizures. DUMB IDIOTS. All they’ve run is CT with no contrast as she pukes it up, to stupid to put it in IV line. NO EEG or EKG, no Thyroid panel, screwed up her knee surgery for torn ligament so knee will never be right. She hasn’t hit 30 yet.
Our property taxes keep going up, and we don’t see any improved services. Just the opposite and we are in a semi-rural community with no big businesses all fast food, nail places and a drug store we can’t even use as it doesn’t take Tricare Life. Co-pays keep going up too. But no COLA raise for this year. Congress got a big fat pay raise.
