According to most polls taken since last month’s party conventions, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton enjoys an insurmountable lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump. Consequently, a number of commentators on both sides of the partisan divide have declared the race over. Clinton, they say, has won. There are several problems with this conclusion.

commentators on both sides of the partisan divide have declared the race over.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If commenters have “declared the race over” and Hillary has won, they are hardly partisan.

Good article.

"If Trump wins, on the other hand, while it is true that the NeverTrumpsters will not maintain their unquestioned control over Republican policies, they will likely get a seat at the table and retain some influence.

More important, if Trump wins, the US will have a chance of changing back to the country it was before Obama fundamentally transformed it.

Clinton, who like Obama and the NeverTrumpsters scoffs at Trump’s dark descriptions of American life today, has pledged to double down on Obama’s foreign and domestic policies. Indeed, she even pledged to destroy what’s left of the coal industry.

So if Clinton is elected, what Republicans think about illegal immigration and free trade and foreign policy will be irrelevant. America’s fundamental transformation will become irreversible.

In that event, America as a whole – not Trump, and not even the NeverTrumpsters – will be the greatest loser of November’s election."

My favorite line.

“As far as the NeverTrumpsters are concerned, Trump carried out a hostile takeover of their party.”

Their tears are delicious.

The only “seat at the table” the Quisling NeverTrumpers will have is an ejection seat.

Trump is accessible by the Mainstream Media. Hillary dodges them and wont answer questions. So why is the Media so in the bag for Hillary?

I don’t read Glick anymore. She was part of that clique of rabid anti-Trumpers that tried to derail his candidacy during the primaries with all sorts of vicious and hackneyed calumnies against him, just like the NRO crowd, including Tom Sowell and VDH, who I don’t read anymore either. I find I can no longer stomach the blindness and stupidity of craven and cowardly hot-house RINO intellectuals that I consider co-conspirators with the GD Marxocrats that have driven the late, great USA to total ruin. Scumbags such as Glick will try to rewrite history to disavow their role in the collapse, but I won’t ever forget it.

Excellent article.

Let me remind Freepers that the National Review advised those of us living in fly-over country to abandon our towns like modern day Okies from the Grapes of Wrath and go "where the jobs are".

Those people, the neverTrumpers, are not our friends. However this election turns out let them be forever branded as quislings, let them be reviled and disgraced.

Having shown their true colors, let them run to the arms of the dhimmis who will treat them like house pets for a while and then discard them because the stench of their betrayal will hang about them and be noisome even to their masters.

And let us name names:

George Will

Bill Kristol

Bret Stephenson

These and more should be banished from American and conservative discourse. They are anathema to me.

I share your disgust but I think we should leave the door open, especially now that the battle is being joined.

We'll need all hands to win this and we can separate the goats from the sheep after the dust settles.

That being said some are beyond redemption.

I wanted to post the same quotation from the article as you just did - this is a tremendous article....sums up the disasters of the Obama administration and a potential Hitlery Presidency very well.

So, National Review wants everyone to go to places like China, where all the manufacturing jobs that used to be in the US are? I don't think it will work--I doubt that China has a very liberal immigration policy.

This is the money line for me:
If Trump loses, his voters will not realize that they were mistaken to believe in him and support him in defiance of their party’s intellectual class. They will blame the NeverTrumpsters for the election results and boot them out of the party altogether. If the Republican Party even exists in 2020 and 2024, its candidates will make Trump look like a moderate.

I heard Jeb on TV this morning criticizing Trump's "flip flop" on immigration. Guess what Jeb. No matter what happens your political career is over!

Trump is the American Dream. I sure hope the media cannot convince the American people to support Clinton despite the lies and the continuation of Obama’s destructive policies.

That’s a good start, but there are many, many more that could be added to your list.
