A US Navy patrol craft fired three warning shots at an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps boat Wednesday after US officials said it had harassed that patrol craft, CNN has learned. Another US patrol craft and a Kuwaiti Navy ship were also harassed in the incident, which took place in the northern end of the Persian Gulf.
At one point, the Iranian boat came within 200 yards of one of the US Navy boats. When it failed to leave the area after the Navy had fired flares and had a radio conversation with the Iranian crew, the US officials said, the USS Squall fired three warning shots. Following standard maritime procedures, the Navy fired the three shots into the water to ensure the Iranians understood they needed to leave the immediate area.

This is a new incident...about the 3rd in the last few days.
This was the USS Squall, a Cyclone class Patrol boat armed with a 25mm chain gun, several .50 cal machine guns, and can carry griffin or Hellfie missiles.
Apparently it was helping escort a Kuwaiti vessel when three Iranian patrol boats began harassing it.
When they came to close, one in particular, they fired .50 cal shots into the water near the Iranian.
This is going to lead...soon...to a serious shooting contest between our vessels and we’d best get very prepared for it now.
Reagan knew what to do. We need another Operation Preying MAntis about now.

In addition to regular defensive weaponry, perhaps USN ships operating in those waters should also carry water cannon and reservoirs of warm, rancid bacon fat. The IRIN boats will receive incoming DU shells AND warm bacon grease for their trouble.
Deduct the cost of the ammunition from their next pay-off.

Um, in the short video of us firing into the water, I don’t see any Iranian vessels anywhere. None. Looks like file footage of something else.
Imagine how much ransom they could get, with a whole ship and crew.
