White House spokesman Josh Earnest on Thursday said Republicans in Congress have a long history of attempting to appeal to extremists.

"I think what is clear is that there has been a willingness on the part of Republicans in Congress to appeal to extremists in this country to try to build political support for their party," Earnest said.

COMMENT-BY-COMMENT TEARDOWN:

¶ 1: Not sure how the end of slavery appealed to extremists, but it was a view out of the mainstream at the time, yes.

¶ 2: Josh, if you're gonna build a party, focusing on the edges seems to be an odd way of proceeding, eh? Trump's message is rightly called 'Populist' because it focused on the center of large ideas that a majority of people actually want to see happen. Safety. Security. Jobs. Control of Gov't.

¶ 3: Gee, that was a teed-up question for him, huh?

¶ 4: ...But just is getting the question asked, it produces the desired effect without the White House having to comment.

¶ 5: Clinton linking Trump to the KKK, huh? How about linking the Clintons to Fulbright. Or the entire Democrat party being members of the KKK as recently as Senator Byrd?

¶ 6: Yes - because it's part of established law. But you Democrats ignore that when convenient to you.

¶ 7: No, it's to stop you guys from making a mockery of elections - an effort still in process. No registered voters can credibly claim to have been denied a right to vote.

¶ 8: Let's define the term 'extremism'... that would be something like advocating unique or cutting-edge policies that have never been legal before. Like... abortion, or deficit spending, or Obamacare, or genderless bathrooms, or open borders, or amnesty, or gay marriage, or killing the 2nd amendment... so how has that been working for Democrats nationally lately? Got Congress?

¶ 9: Cynical in my book is congress talking tough and doing nothing to stop you from your extremism.

¶ 10: What's taking a toll on the GOP is their desire to capitulate to you and your people on a grand scale.

The premise of the article it utter and childish nonsense.

The deomcrats have so far established their Marxism in the public mind that the slightest whiff of conservative philosophy is branded by the author and others as “extremism.”

It’s a measure of how far the Left has captured the media and the American Left that such an idiotic premise isn’t simply laughed off the face of the earth.

What remains of the old extreme left that is considered extreme by the left anymore?

Socialism? No, now considered moderate.

Communism? No.

Stalinism? Four words: “Bernie Sanders” “useful idiot”

I guess they may still consider anarchists SLIGHTLY extreme left. Slightly.

Meanwhile if you’re just a teensy bit to the right of McGovern the best you can hope for is “centrist right” in their estimation.

Leftists are the only and true extremists. Conservativism is the polar opposite of extremism. This phoney baloney liberal bear-baiting is red-flag, red-herring, tail-wagging at its best.
Deluded leftists do not understand their own hate filled extremism. The Useful Idiots among them have sugar plum fairies dancing in their heads and fanged demons in their hearts.
Nothing on earth is more deceitful than a leftist.

But importing Muslims who want to engage in Jihad - as so MANY of them do - without vetting, is of course not extreme...in fact protecting U.S. citizens from them IS extreme.

OK got it. Western Civilization is in such a death spiral that they can’t figure out what to do...except die.

..... Yup ...... As Black Lives Matter and associates riot and burn down neighborhoods, Beat up and kill white folks, and roam around Murdering Police officers all over the country in the name of tolerance. And in the Democrat Party playbook .... that is not even considered extremism.

..... To Democrats ... "Extremism"... is the act of adhering to the United States Constitution ....

May I suggest that the Democrats have a long list of terrorist, criminals and leftist thugs that they appeal to. Let me name a few. The Iranian government ( nukes and Ransom) . Isis ( direct weapons supply in libya and Syria), Black lives matter ( obvious). Sexual predators and rapists ( Bill). Help me here.

Was George Wallace “extreme”?

How about Robert KKK Byrd?

Yes, and now “extremist” Republicans, though at least temporarily blocked by a Court, are pressing to allow confused grown men to go into the same bathroom as little girls ... Oh wait, that’s Obama, my bad.

Bill Ayres, who was an early supporter of Obama, and has been invited by Obama to the White House on several occasions, openly discussed the necessity to kill as many as 25 million Americans who weren't down with the revolution his organization (the Weather Underground) was trying to foment.

But we're extreme.
