We don’t have time to actually do investigative stories. That’s too much work. Besides, the newsroom is filled mostly with unpaid interns who can only find their way to Starbucks. You can’t ask them to ferret out stories or do investigations.
But a poll. A poll is so easy. Pay a fee, get the poll you want. Publish it as news. Watch the page views rise. The more we whipsaw the polls the higher the page views. So, so easy.

And then a picture of Donald Trump’s face comes on the TV screen with the words TRUMP WINS FLORIDA.
If the AA support across the country mirrors that of Florida along with the support of independents....how is he polling behind in the other states?

I remember Katie Couric refusing to call Nevada in 2004 for George W. Bush, because it would have put him over the top with more than 270 electoral votes, even though it was clear that Bush won Nevada by 20,000 votes.
The next day, sad Katie was wearing black.
