If we don’t get control of the immigration system - and by this I don’t just mean build a wall, but deport all the illegals and drastically cut down on legal immigration - there won’t be anything else left.
I think you are right. However, I think even more than immigration is the Federal income tax system. However, I think reforming it has as much chance as what you mentioned above, so I’ve moved on to things that can actually be changed.
Thing is, too much of the economy is wrapped up in immigration and the tax system both. If we went to a flat tax, all the tax attorneys, accountants, etc. would absolutely revolt. And likewise with illegal immigration. If we actually did press a button and they were all gone, the country would absolutely collapse. I don’t like it, but that is just the way it is. Things have to be phased out gradually. That is why I actually like Trump MORE now that he is talking about adult answers to the illegal immigration issue.
But again, I really need Obamacare to go away before it becomes like the other two. Likewise AGW.

I realise that some of this is probably Lugenpresse-driven nonsense.
However, Trump needs to understand that politics is not like business, and you can’t “art of the deal” your way into some compromise that will keep his base happy when he’s not giving his base what they want. The GOP-E made the same type of mistake, and let’s hope Trump isn’t in the process of doing the same.

Hillary can not grant citizenship to 30+ million illegals, Congress has to do that. Which speaks to the real issue in this election, Hillary should not present that much of a threat, except we know the current makeup of the Republican Congress will not stop her. McConnell has already said he can work with her, which means passing legislation that supports big money donors from both parties.
Trump has repeatedly said he will enforce the immigration laws & build the wall. What about that do you not like?

AND if you care to recall Immigration was the very FIRST problem Trump addressed. He was laughed at and ridiculed ad infinitum and he continues to address immigration DAILY in his speeches. But that’s not good enough for you. LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS and try, just try, to see that no matter what comes down the pike, Trump is the ONLY choice we have to SAVE the USA.

And to be clear, I completely agree with you that we need to listen to what he says! I have been.
But I am less sanguine than you on the ability of ANY man to get us out of the mess we are in, though Trump is the best choice we have right now.
I’ve called California “northern Mexico” for two decades, And I lived in Vallejo and Anaheim in the 60’s.
I’ve already written that state off. Any significant action to fix it would create unconscionable mayhem. Not that I don’t think that will happen no matter what.
But I believe in the concept of “choose your battles”.
