I don’t disagree with your view, or your comments in reference to Silverstein. I’m not familiar with the case, so I’m responding to your premise. Sounds reasoned to me.
I’ve become quite self-contained over the years. That means I can survive not having contact with other humans. I don’t require a lot of outside stimulation. I think. I ponder. I reason.
Yes, I like keeping up with that is going on, but beyond that, I can survive alone, isolated, and reasonably happy.
Happiness is a conscious decision. People can be in a troubling situation and decide not to let it get them down. IMO, that’s a real winner.
People who have everything can be very unhappy.
People who have absolutely nothing, can be reasonably happy.
To me, it would be far worse to be subjected to life and death games in the prison general population.
Lock me away and toss the key. I’ll survive.
