You are right, sadly, that’s how it works.
This reminds me, that the movies “Selma” and “American Sniper” were in movie theaters at the same time. Some black activist types on TV at the time, said it was racist to go see “American Sniper” instead of “Selma”.
“American Sniper” was a big hit movie, while “Selma” languished, and in spite of hype and praise for an historical drama movie, it didn’t do very well at the box office.

Well, this movie is historical fiction. It could be that the first date presented in the movie, is a composite of various dates when they first started seeing each other.
I can’t wait for the X-rated version. Dumbo does Dallas.
The story spans a single day as the future President meets his future wife in a Brothel, they begin Smokin Crack together, have some drinks, smoke some weed, then they go over to the Weather Undergound Terrorists Home of Bill Ayers, where they begin to plan the Wholesale Destruction of the American Way of Life and America itself.
Probably closer to the truth!
