APS: It’s still OK to call students ‘boys and girls’ (Albuquerque)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | August 22, 2016 | Kim Burgess

An elementary school principal in Albuquerque has “apologized profusely” for a mistake in her PowerPoint presentation to teachers and staff that said it would “no longer be acceptable to call our students boys and girls.”

APS spokeswoman Monica Armenta said Monday that teachers at Carlos Rey Elementary are not barred from calling students “boys and girls,” and that the simple misunderstanding was blown out of proportion in at least one media report.

A few weeks ago, the school’s principal, Judith Touloumis, delivered a PowerPoint presentation to inform staff about the new APS transgender procedural directive, which went into effect this summer. One of the slides included the statement that “biological sex must be seen as a spectrum or range of possibilities rather than a binary set of only two options.”

“In other words, from August 8, 2016, our students at Carlos Rey will be collectively addressed as ‘students, Coyotes, engineers, scientists, mathematicians, etc.’ No longer will it be acceptable to call our students, ‘Boys and Girls.’ (A new paradigm shift).”

Armenta said Touloumis had copied and pasted information from an LGBT advocacy group that does not represent district policy.

“She apologized profusely; she was embarrassed and has made every attempt to correct her mistake with staff,” Armenta said. “This was nothing more than a mistake by a human being.”

Touloumis declined an interview with the Journal .

The school district now says it's o.k. to call children boys and girls. But an earlier directive included the statement that “biological sex must be seen as a spectrum or range of possibilities rather than a binary set of only two options.”

Very frankly, they got caught when one of the teachers followed the directive to the letter. But be assured, under the radar, there are emails/memos saying the directive is still in effect.

Apologies to all. I’m on my iPad for most of the next 30 days, and I don’t have access to my HTML click and post tags I use with Firefox.

Sure, I can easily understand how an elementary school principal could accidently copy material directly from the website of "an LGBT advocacy group" into a list of "procedural directives" directed at newly hired teachers.

I could actually imagine making such a mistake myself. It might easily happen to anyone.

Except that is wasn’t a mistake, until the backlash after the public found out.

This is how PC creeps into every aspect of our lives. Some Lib has a ‘great idea’ and pushes it on others before they realize it and can react.

Even if it only works 1 or 2% of the times, it still advances the progressive Lib agenda.

Then, why was she cutting and pasting anything from any website that 'does not represent district policy' and then use it in a formal presentation which would imply that it is district policy?

Armeta's excuse just digs the hole a little deeper.

Google easily discovers the original text. It is from an organization called Gender Spectrum, founded by one Stephanie Brill. Here is her picture:

Here are some of her publications:

  1. The Transgender Child: A Handbook for Families and Professionals
  2. The Queer Parent's Primer
  3. The New Essential Guide to Lesbian Conception, Pregnancy, and Birth

Ms. Brill has also been the subject of coverage on 20/20, The San Francisco Chronicle, NPR's All Things Considered and This American Life, and The New York Times.

The "Executive Director" or Gender Spectrum is a person named Lisa Kenney, who is lists as her "first professional love" the experience of "working at a company that provided education-based camps for high school and college kids throughout California."

The text that was "accidently" copied into the principal's Power Point is from this webpage. It can be found toward the bottom, under the topic heading "Gender Terminology."

Taken as a whole, this web page is an incredibly wordy and gassy screed that - in nearly two thousand words - expresses the ideas that

  1. A person has a gender and a sex, which have almost nothing to do with one another.
  2. While there are only two sexes, there are an infinite number of genders.
  3. Gender is a social construct.
  4. The current concept of gender is the product of a repressive society, and must be changed.
  5. There is such a thing as "gender privilege."
  6. Several new terms and expressions must be learned if one is to understand the concept of gender.

Every bit of this disquisition will be familiar to people who frequent Free Republic. It is all utterly conventional LGBT material, at least with respect to the currently fashionable manifestation of that culture. I didn't detect a single new idea in any of it.

Thanks for reminding me of the term gender construct. A Hillary supportere how I could vote for the sexist Trump. I said there is no sexism because gender is a social construct. She hasn’t said sexist to me again.

If there is a push to do away with the term boy and girl, the next thing will be to do away with term juvenile and adult, and you know benefits from that...

Fox News says the school was taking its marching orders from the “Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico.”

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/08/24/new-mexico-school-sends-mixed-signals-on-gender-policy.html

The Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico is (surprise!) a nonprofit cofounded —and apparently entirely staffed—by two (ostensibly) “transgender men” (women posing as men.)

Read and LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE PHOTOS in the following link.

http://www.tgrcnm.org/read-me-montauk

We have gone so far ‘round the bend. To me, these guys look like they really ARE men. Could they simply be government operatives claiming to have been born biological women, “identifying” as men?
IOW, do we now have Obamabots LYING, claiming to be transgendered, in order to further the agenda?
After all, we have Soros-paid fake protestors; why not Soros-paid fake trannies?
Ever wonder why thousands of trannies seem to be coming out the woodwork, when 10 years ago they were so few you never saw ANY of them?
