Appearing on Fox’s O’Reilly Factor, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump didn’t get the deferential treatment he has come to expect when he makes his almost nightly visit to Sean Hannity’s show, as host Bill O’Reilly tried to rein him Monday night when he started talking about policing policies.
Discussing crime rates in Chicago — a favorite of target for conservatives – Trump went on to say that he thinks cops are handling suspects with kid gloves and that they need to be able to clamp down on suspects.
“I know police in Chicago,” Trump began. “If they were given the authority to do it, they would get it done.”
“How?” O’Reilly asked.
“How? By being very much tougher than they are right now,” Trump asserted. “They’re right now not tough. I could tell you this very long and quite boring story, but when I was in Chicago, I got to meet a couple of very top police. I said, ‘How do you stop this?'”
According to Trump, one of his unnamed “top” Chicago cops told him, “Mr. Trump, I’d be able to stop it in one week,” with Trump saying the cops want to use undefined “tough police tactics.”
O’Reilly jumped in by telling Trump, “You need a warrant to arrest people. You can’t beat them up ! You have to have a warrant to arrest them! You have to –” only to be cut off by Trump who wasn’t interested in going into details.
“All I know is this,” Trump blustered. “I went to a top police officer in Chicago, who is not the police chief, and I could see by the way he was dealing with his people, he was a rough, tough guy, they respected him greatly.”
Trump then repeated the same story over again about “tough tactics,” only to have O’Reilly ask: “But he didn’t tell exactly precisely how?”
“No,” Trump replied as if the case was closed. “Because I’m not the mayor of Chicago.”

BOR is OK with grabbing his wife (now ex) by the throat and dragging her down the stairs but can’t bear the thought of a cop grabbing up a criminal by the scruff of the neck.
New Yorkers correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Rudy clean up NYC with stop and frisk? Criminals don’t just go away without encouragement.
Gave up on O’Reilly years ago. He warned you not to bloviate because that was his schtick.
I have to disagree. He gives Trump a lot of leeway to get his point across.
He’s allowed to have an opinion. It’s his show.
I haven’t watched in almost 2 years because there’s too much arguing.
But making the leap to calling him a traitor, I dont see the evidence for it.
If we are not allowed to beat them before they attempt to kill us...what shall we do?

Clueless BOR knows nothing about the streets of Chicago. I DO KNOW and I know what Trump learned about Chicago.
If they want to stop violent crime in Chicago, the police need stop & frisk to take guns away from the thugs that are everywhere. I carry 2-3 small defensive solutions on my person when walking or taking public transit in Chicago.
Secondly, they need to clean up the courts and put these thugs in jail instead of releasing them. Chicago is so bad on law enforcement (not the actual police - they great), that “cop blogs” sprung up to combat the PC local news media.

Now I am really sure Trump called for that. Don’t be too hard on O’Reilly, he can’t help being an ass. He was born that way.
BOR lectures Trump and tries to tell him how to do everything. He twists himself into pretzels trying to look like he knows more than Trump. Trump is very patient with him.
After watching O’Reilly’s “SHOW”, his condescension, his self indulgence, his arrogance yesterday, we’ll never watch another moment of him. We came away not only despising him, but totally convinced he’s a “Never Trump” out to do as much damage as he can to the Trump campaign. We think Trump could have told him on several occasions what he finally told BOR at the end. “Even if I knew what I was going to say I won’t tell you”. Trump should have told him to get off his holier than thou act early on in the interview. BOR was a complete ass.

Most assuredly “being tough” is of itself no panacea or object worthy of intrinsic worship. Addressing the right things in the right manner is needed.
“Conservatism” could seize the prize through Donald Trump and then throw it all away again by concentrating on things that greater America, with a biblical Christian ethic, could not stomach. It has to be careful what it asks for, lest it get it good and hard on a silver platter.
Even in Duterte’s case, the PI as a whole does not pose the same situation as Davao City. You can sweep a small mound of dirt under the rug, but not a whole roomful.

It’s our fault alone if all we want to survive of it is the elite organization we generally call “police” today.
Cops can’t be in nearly as many places at the same time as John Q. Public can. These gangs know that everybody else, in misguided uber-pacifism, has eschewed weapons. If this would only cease to be true, on a widespread basis, mischief makers would soon, at the least, turn to different kinds of mischief. Chicago, for instance, has only itself to blame for thinking that less guns in the hands of even a semi-honest public guarantees less shooting crime. And if self-aggrandizing police departments want to keep it that way — shame shame shame on them! They are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Yes, Guiliani and the police cleaned up the streets of NY with “Stop and Frisk”. You don’t need a warrant for a “probable cause” stop based on visual cues. A bulge in one’s pocket that is prominent; furtive glances in a high crime area; lurking in the shadows; a gang roving around the streets who fit the description of a criminal group, etc.
That is how you can get many of the illegal guns and criminally legally off the streets and into jail.
O’Reilly’s initial should be “BS”, not BOR unless BOR stands for Boring.
Knowing Donald, I think he will focus better as time goes on. The Giuliani example would be a start. Encouraging militias of even semi-honest people would be progress.
We ask the police to do miracles. They can’t, and the attempt becomes baroque.
