Why Donald Trump Picked Kellyanne Conway to Manage his Campaign
Time Magazine ^ | 8/22 | Alex Altman and Zeke J Miller

Posted on 08/23/2016 8:42:50 AM PDT by TangledUpInBlue

Now Conway is advising another candidate with a penchant for provocative remarks. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump named Conway his campaign manager on Aug. 17, just weeks after she joined his effort as a senior adviser. The decision already appears to be paying off. In the week since elevating the veteran GOP strategist, Trump has tried to tame his tongue. He has swapped freewheeling speeches for TelePrompTers and policy addresses, expressed regret for unspecified offenses and signaled that he may be considering a softer position on illegal immigration. He even traveled to Louisiana for a conventional candidate photo-op, where he was briefed on flood rescue plans.

Party insiders and Trump aides alike give some of the credit to Conway. Her job, they say, is as much about managing the candidate as it is overseeing the nuts and bolts of his ground game. In the final stretch of the campaign, Trump has decided to rely on the veteran GOP strategist, 49, to devise a plan to reverse his sliding polls, sing his praises on TV and provide a stabilizing presence in a haphazard operation. And while Conway isn’t the first professional operative to be handed the role, she seems—at least so far—to be breaking through in ways her predecessors could not

She had me from the moment Trump made that speech. He's got 77 days to do this. Soften and sway. He can soften without settling. And he'll sway lots of people.

I just brought my son back to school in North Carolina. If the signs I saw and the discussions I had are indicative of the entire state (Guilford County) I don't see how Clinton can carry NC. I will say though, that I could make the same statement of Western Virginia and I know that state is likely hopeless.

That being said, all I saw were Trump signs, banners, bumper stickers etc.. I saw a few leftover Bernie, but almost all Trump. I didn't see a single sign etc. for Clinton. Not one.

I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt until she said Trump doesn’t hurl personal insults. MSM pounced on it to become a new meme. I thought she was brought in to lessen the screwups?

We really can’t trust traditional mass media of any sort now, frankly. They are all-in for the Clinton fix. They will carp, undercut, bitch, moan and concern-ninny us to death. We are going to win. Decisively, IMO

Calling ghouls to the carpet for their duplicity is not ‘screwups’.

Trump’s biggest problem, and risk is being perceived as being just another politician. There is no doubt that he needs to win over a good bit of the nevertrumps, but if he goes too far establishment and stops being authentic, he becomes viewed as just another establishment politician and loses all he has built.

I trust he will navigate the waters, but that’s his biggest risk.. not some off the cuff comment, but being perceived as inauthentic or just another establishment player. Either of those happen and Trump’s support would crater fast.

Virginia is lost for years to come. The invasion of northerners in and around Washington DC, coupled with the election of a northerner MacAwful (former DNC chairman and longtime Clinton crony) as governor and now another northerner who used to be Virginia governor by the name of Kaine as crooked Clinton’s running mate. The War Between the States all over again. Virginia now firmly in the control of Yankees.

Many statements Trump has made falls into the category of personal insults. Denying it gives a Bagdad Bob feel to his campaign that we can do without.

Clinton may be ahead in Virginia, but the 16% lead reported in today’s Roanoke College poll means the students should have to take a drug test.

Anyone think Trump had a long term marketing plan with different phases and he is just moving from one phase to another? I do. It is how buildings a built.

Northerners ruined Virginia? Last I checked Maryland was below the Mason-Dixon Line.

That’s what’s ruining Virginia. Marylanders fleeing their own political mess + the invasion of the Fed Employee bodysnatchers in NoVa.

I agree, VA has turned blue for as far into the future as I can see.

I live in Jersey and we were barraged with Obama/Biden bumper stickers, lawn signs, etc...in 2008 and 2012. I see ZERO Hillary bumper stickers or lawn signs. While I don’t think Trump will win NJ, I can tell you there is very little enthusiasm for Hillary among my Dem colleagues. To the extent they go to the polls, it will be to vote against Trump whom they cannot stand. Jersey is a lot like Pa. We are a 55-45 state. A lot of our state is very conservative but we are outnumbered by the Turnpike run from Newark to Camden

And he’s made a heart felt talk about his regret at some statements and potential hurt he may or may have not caused.

NOTHING Hillary has said has been admission - it’s been condemnation, ridicule or just diversionist horsesh!t parsing.

How dare you cite Baghdad Bob with respect to Trump, frankly. If there is any Baghdad whoever, it is the entire US media, the US DoJ, FBI and anyone and everyone connected with a Clinton in any form, shape or fashion.

To equivocate on Trump’s categorization of comments without so much as a howdoyoudo to Hillary’s cabal apparatus is reprehensible.

I’m in NJ too and I agree with all you say. Granted, I live in one of those red counties, but still - ZERO signage for her and I know a lot of Dems that will vote for Johnson or not vote.

Next Media Trump Gotcha:

Invite him on Jimmy Kimmel. Hand him a jar of pickles that has been super-glued shut.

“How dare you cite Baghdad Bob with respect to Trump”

I was referring to KellyAnne, not Trump. She does no good for Trump. telling an easily refuted lie. She set up an easily punchline and gave aid and comfort to the enemy with that unbelievably stupid statement.

“To equivocate on Trump’s categorization of comments without so much as a howdoyoudo to Hillary’s cabal “

A post critical of Kellyanne has to bring up Hillary? I didn’t know that was the rule.

This is TIME MAGAZINE people, a vile organ of the political criminal left.

Here’s the take (in CAPS below) on Altman and Miller’s moronic deadline Conway blabfest:

The decision already appears to be paying off.

IN TERMS OF THE LIBERAL FANTASY POINTS THAT FOLLOW

In the week since elevating the veteran GOP strategist, Trump has tried to tame his tongue.

FANTASY .... TAKE ANOTHER TOKE BOYS AND LET’S SEE HOW FAR YOUR HALLUCINATIONS EXTEND.

He has swapped freewheeling speeches for TelePrompTers and policy addresses

ONLY BECAUSE SUCH SPEECHES ARE DESIGNED AROUND VERY STRUCTURED POLICY POINTS, NOT BECAUSE HE HAS ABANDONED HIS BONDING WITH MEMBERS OF THE MOVEMENT.

expressed regret for unspecified offenses and signaled that he may be considering a softer position on illegal immigration.

WISHFUL THINKING. IF IT LURES YOU INTO A COMFORT ZONE OF YOUR GLOBALIST WET DREAM, THEN ENJOY THE MOMENT OF DISTRACTION WHILE THE REST OF SOCIAL MEDIA WITNESSES THE DIARRHEA SEEPING THROUGH THE WITCH’S SKIRTS AND PANTS.

He even traveled to Louisiana for a conventional candidate photo-op, where he was briefed on flood rescue plans.

HE HAS ALWAYS HELPED PEOPLE IN NEED, HE HAS DONE SO QUIETLY, UNSELFISHLY FOR DECADES ESPECIALLY FOR VETERANS:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3330070/posts?page=86#79

You’re at least a year behind boys, and so deficient in brain cells that there is zero hope to ever catch up. The real question for both of you and your moron editors is WTF will you do for a living when the Bloombergs, the Soros’, the Murdoch’s and the like all withdraw from propping up the pathetic pansy asses of your category.

“I trust he will navigate the waters, but that’s his biggest risk.. not some off the cuff comment, but being perceived as inauthentic or just another establishment player.”

Trump has never held office, so there is a slim to none chance of his being considered a member of any Establishment. The actual GOPe RINOs covertly and/or overtly can’t stand him. I wouldn’t worry about Trump ever relinquishing his outsider status, and whatever small accommodations to the RINOs Trump must make now in order to get elected, will disappear in a puff of smoke on November 8th. Trump is a man of the People. That’s us.
