AUSTIN - A federal judge has blocked the Obama administration's transgender guidelines for public schools, siding late Sunday with Texas and a dozen other states that challenged the contentious instructions.
U.S District Judge Reed O'Connor of Fort Worth, in issuing a nationwide preliminary injunction, said that federal officials didn't follow proper procedures in creating the directives. Further, he said the guidelines contradicted existing statutes and regulatory texts.

Obama’s “law” is nothing more than a directive with the usual funding threats.
What? Barack isn’t the king?
There’s been so much nod, wink that one scarcely know what is going to fly.
*APPLAUSE*
More of the same, Please!
good thing he is so lazy.
Never got around to forcing projects into good neighborhoods.
didn’t put up much of a fight to get a SC nominee voted on. But that might have been part of the horrific budget deal this year.
As far as I can tell, NO schools or bars or offices are paying any attention to his nonsense bathroom laws.
Dont know about Target. Haven’t been in there since their decision.
Keep getting surveys asking how they can win me back.
Use your imagination for guessing my answer :)
Someone with some common sense.
More attacks from Obama against decency and decent culture. And Congress just gives this Maggot and chief an open and unchallenged door.
I do have a question, though. How did it happen that a judge in one circuit (and not the USSC) can be believed to make an order stick nationally.
So often we can like the outcome so well that we don’t look at the legal structures involved. If we carried this principle over to other things, are there ways that, say, the uber-leftist Ninth Circuit could cause a nationwide stumbling block under, say, a Trump administration?
I could wish that all the circuits would agree on this, or if not, then the USSC would set them straight. But currently they haven’t.
Before you get too excited, the judge said:
1. Obama didn’t follow proper procedures.
2 Obama’s guidelines contradicted existing statutes
3. Obama’s guidelines contradicted regulatory texts
So the judge is a precise, by-the-book man. That is no cause for celebration. These procedural trivialities will get “fixed” and the regs will stand.
The judge should had said “This is an abomination to all mankind and defies common sense. It hurts and damages the most innocent among us. It protects the tiniest minority imaginable at the expense of the great majority. I will not stand for it in Texas and hereby find it unlawful.”
Then we would have cause for celebration, the judge would have been a real man and a hero.
Targay is sticking to their guns but adding single stall bathrooms for those uncomfortable with being sexually assaulted.

Yeah, that was in one of the surveys.
I’m trying to not use so many ######s on FR anymore, but you can imagine my response to that too :)
They could build a SEPARATE BUILDING just for bathrooms and i wouldn’t shop there.
BTW, thanks for reminding me. Gonna shoot an email to Target telling them about the laptop I just bought at Walmart.
I also emailed Walmart and let them know WHY I switched to them, so they get the message from us
Judge is a George W. appointee.
He issued a nationwide (good thing) preliminary (or maybe not) injunction.
Something like this can be an obiter dictum, but it can’t form part of a formal legal opinion.
And the “nationwide” part of it still begs to be explained. If one circuit can stifle the nationwide application of EOs, then watch out Donald Trump for the Ninth Circuit.
Now we have a test case for SCOTUS.
I simply refuse to go to Target....they decided that sodomites were more important to them. I will never go back, ever.
Channeling Bill Clinton: “Now look here. Women these days want men like me prowling their bathroom stalls. Keeps it interestin’. So look, if a guy is too fat or stupid, he should get outta-the-way, but when a young stud wants to be hip and cool? Take a hit-a cocaine like me and say he feels ‘transgender’ today.”
If Texas schools were teaching the Constitution like they should be, the constitutionally humbled federal governments limited powers delegated to the feds by the constitutionally powerful states in this example, then grade school children probably be able to point out the following problems with lawless Obamas unconstitutional restroom edict concerning politically correct transgender people.
The only sex-related right that the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect is voting rights as evidenced by the 19th Amendment. And since transgender bathroom issues are clearly out of the scope of voting issues, misguided Obama has no constitutional authority to harass the sovereign states with his restroom edict.
Students would also probably be able to point out that regardless that Congress has the constitutional authority to stop Obama from harassing the states, but has stubbornly refused to do so, that corrupt Congress is actually a bigger problem then Obama is.
Remember in November !
Patriots need to support Trump / Pence by also electing a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will not only work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support Trumps vision for making America great again for everybody, but will put a stop to unconstitutonal federal taxes and likewise unconstitutional inteference in state affairs as evidenced by Obamas restroom policy.
Note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.
