Clinton Campaign Manager Suggests Trump Is a 'Puppet' for the Kremlin

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager cautioned against reading too much into the departure of Donald Trump’s campaign chair Paul Manafort, suggesting today that Russia is still at the “core” of the Republican nominee’s campaign and that Trump himself could be a “puppet” for the Kremlin.

“Paul Manafort has been pushed out, but that doesn’t mean that the Russians have been pushed out of this campaign,” Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on "This Week."

Manafort resigned this week following reports questioning his work as a lobbyist for pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarchs.

“The hand of the Kremlin has been at work in this campaign for some time," Mook added. "It’s clear that they are supporting Donald Trump. But we now need Donald Trump to explain to us the extent to which the Kremlin is at the core of his own campaign.”

Mook explained that there are a “web of financial interests” that Trump has not disclosed, which has led to “real questions being raised about whether Donald Trump himself is just a puppet for the Kremlin in this race.”

When pushed by Stephanopoulos, Mook doubled down and called on Trump to disclose any ties he may have to Moscow.

From what I've read (in several places), one of the most onerous risks now existing from Hillary's illegal and reckless email server is that the likely hacked material potentially provides exposure to blackmail from unfriendly nations.

The reason Hillary is making a big issue in the campaign about Russia isn’t about Trump. It is an attempt to bully Russia into not releasing more hacked info they obviously have. Russia wanted to leak all this stuff in the background. If they are on the front burner it is a lot less effective and may blow back on them.
