The first thing I noticed about Mr. Trump was that he was a stickler for detail. As a politician, he may affect a breezy platform style, but in the office, he was all business. Right off the bat, he corrected my team’s estimates of future financing requirements. He must have phoned an expert minutes before the meeting, because he said that by the latest market information he had, our current interest rates were off by 0.1%...
In the end, I can say that Mr. Trump drove a hard bargain. But he was honest, and he was a square dealer. When we were through—in less time than we had expected—we had reached an agreement that was ethical, profitable and fair to all parties concerned. It was also an agreement that meant good jobs for working people and healthy tax revenues for the local government.
If we didn’t come away from the table liking Mr. Trump, there’s no question that we came away with a lot of respect for him. He was a tough, shrewd, no-nonsense executive who knew how to get things done, and done quickly. He was also an adversary whom no one would want to mess with.
Isn’t that what really matters in a president?

I believe that Trump will have a ministerial type of government. He is not the type person who says he knows it all...he goes to subject matter experts as a CEO, he has to or he would not survive. He will set the tone, give the direction and ask for the best way to get there...sometimes that requires negotiation but not on the critical points.
If one spends time reading the federalist papers, there was quite a bit of explanation of how the cabinet officials, there were 4 I believe at the beginning, interacted with the President leading up to why having an advise and consent standard was needed. If we simply follow the constitution in all aspects, not the pick and choose what words in which sentences we believe is paramount we would not be in the dilemma we are today IMO.
The bottom line as to his detractors, their reason has nothing to do with his abilities, but rather how people will see their inabilities as they have never been seen before.
Frankly, I am surprised that Forbes even published this very heart felt and believable article. From my experience this kind of story is not in their basic nature.
Excellent article. It is exactly what I saw in the man from the start. Say what needs to be said in the fewest words possible, cut to the chase and get it done. That IS what we need.
Not a big Trump fan (I will be voting for him, of course), but I am a big Calvin Coolidge fan, and there’s something of Coolidge in this description of him - and that helps.
Fantastic! All my years in NYC I never knew much about The Donald except the bad press meted out to him over aspects of his social life - mostly Ivana’s dragging him around to charity events in the 70s & 80s where he sat at parties looking bored. I didn’t know he was bored because he wanted to get back to his office.
It’s been a pleasant education for me.

People still haven’t read The Art of the Deal. It lays out exactly how he will behave in the oval office.
And it’s not because of some promise that he’s made. His goals are only achieved by making sound decisions. Graft his business approach onto American Legislation and it’s clear that in order for him to succeed, we have to be better off.
Watch the ogliarchs crap their pants when he starts auditing the books and discovers why they they are worth so many millions then puts the hammer down puts them on trial. I can think of many who have gone unchallenged and unchecked due to lack of term limits. Time to boot the traitors. I feel a shakeup of massive proportions on the way.

IN an interview this was mentioned, he said he didn’t know a thing about ice rinks, and found out the person in charge of making the ice was from Florida. Florida? What does he know about ice? So he called a friend and told him the situation, the friend recommended someone from Canada. Now he knows ice. (paraphrasing Trump’s comments)
So he looked it over and tore everything out. Pour3ed a foot thick concrete base instead of the 4 inch previously considered sufficient. Got the guy from Canada to set up a salt water based method of making ice. It was frozen in a couple of hours. No leaks, all PVC instead of leaky, problematic copper tubing, easy to maintain.
Notice what he did? Took on a project he knew nothing about, called in the best he could find, got it done ahead of schedule and under budget. With no knowledge of how to build such a thing...
Is that what we need in the White House or what?

Officers trained in or experienced in combat immediately get what Trump is about. The first approach is to shake it up, try to break it, see what it is made of and what it's fears, ambitions wants and needs are and see what tactical advantage shakes out. He is quick at getting down to "brass tacks."

I will have to pay attention. I had thought they were a Chinese mag now. But our own media is without any exception, a bunch of partisan nay-sayers across the completely political spectrum. Every last one of them.
Maybe Forbes has a place. Paying attention for the first time.

I am not a trained combat officer but I understand the tactics and have used them in business many times over the years - to great success. I think most conflict adverse people just label it has aggressive and withdraw to their “safe” place.
Yes, this is a MAJOR point that I have been trying to get across to people for a long time. The age-old problem is that once a person takes a hard-and-fast position on just about any issue, it commonly becomes a significant part of one’s personal identity, and thus any attack upon that position is viewed by that person as an attack on himself. Which, of course, is why intense media indoctrination orchestrated by oppressive regimes is so effective. And history is replete with such examples.
