UPI/CVoter poll: Hillary Clinton's lead over Donald Trump narrows to 4.2%

WASHINGTON, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The UPI/CVoter daily presidential tracking poll released Friday shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by 4.2 percentage points. The online poll shows Clinton with 49.69 percent to Trump's 45.47.

The most recent data reflect a 1.19 percentage point shift toward Trump and a loss of 1.15 percentage points by Clinton. A day earlier Clinton held a more-than 6-point lead. Over the course of a full, seven-day sample of the poll, both candidates have largely held steady, with Clinton gaining 0.2 percentage points and Trump gaining 0.3 percentage points over the past week.

The UPI/CVoter online tracking poll surveys about 200 people each day, leading to a sample size of roughly 1,400 people during any seven-day span.

Because the poll is conducted online and individuals self-select to participate, a margin of error cannot be calculated. The poll has a credibility interval of 3 percentage points. This seven-day span includes data collected from Aug. 11-17, when 1,397 individuals were surveyed. Of them, 1,009 identified themselves as likely voters.

FYI. Reuters out at 4:00 today. Let’s see if that is another in the tightening trend. The one big BS flag I see on this poll is supposedly all of the 3rd Party vote over the last 5 weeks has gone to Hillary, not Trump. That’s probably backwards, but even a modest 50/50 split of that 5% would make this poll a tie.

That’s the way things are heading in polling today. You can discount or mock it if you want, it but since pollsters have an 8% response rate in landline and cell contacts, internet based polling is the new wave.

Trump is already acting as if he's president. Hillary has no juice. The only thing she has is a media that will put her in a cocoon and campaign for her.

If Trump continues to campaign as he has for the past week, hammers away with TV ads, and is serious and prepared in the debates, I think he locks it up. At the very least, he puts to rest the premise that his campaign is imploding. Every media hit piece includes that.

I just don't see the debates happening.

Millions spent by Hillary, while Donald has been keeping his powder dry. Let’s hope he begins a major media blitz soon, and blows Kommissar Kankles off the map.

And that is without heavy Ad buys. Hillary has over 20 years of high-profile name recognition, and this is the best that she can do.

I'll assume for now that the election cycle will largely happen as expected. There will be debates. No one will drop out. No one will be replaced. I'd love for Assange to drop his e-mail bomb and prove without a doubt that Hillary is a criminal and she'll be marched off in handcuffs, but I'm not holding my breath.

All that being said, I think Trump is setting things up where he can peak at the right time.

I agree. However, she CAN'T get on that debate stage...she'll get hammered (or she should). I think she wiggles out of it.

Just my two cents.

I really wish we could identify a reliable poll and see a true picture of where we are at in this race. This is frustrating. I mean, who can you believe?

When she gets to respond in a debate question and one she doesn’t like, she’ll just have a coughing fit.
