Tribute thread for WVKayaker
August 18, 2016 | by Mark17

It has been reported by Mark17 that his brother-in-law WVKayaker passed away on August 8, 2016.

Mark17 wrote:

His full name was Walter Page Noe. He preferred to be called Page. He was born in September of 1947 and died Aug 8, 2016, at Brokenshire Memorial Hospital in Davao City, Philippines. My wife and his, are sisters. I am the one who introduced them together.

I haven’t looked at his profile page lately, but he probably has some pictures on it, with his wife Marlene. She is my sister in law, as my lovely wife Menierva, is her younger sister. You can see her pictures on my profile page. We are saddened by his death.

He was placed in intensive care on Sunday, Aug 7th. By the morning of the 8th, he Called my name, and my wife called me at home, in tears, and said I needed to go to the hospital ASAP. I arrived about 11 AM, and there were a bunch of medical staff inside the room, so I was out in the hallway. I called to him. I did not know if he heard me, but my wife thinks he saw me and heard me, and once he did, then she said he gave up, and at 12:41 PM, on Monday, 8 Aug 2016, he died. Now, we are putting the pieces back together. I forgot to mention, he was a Navy veteran, I think from 64 to 66.

Mark17 also posted:

Thanks T. Per your request, I will give you a little more history on our relationship with WVkayaker (Page Noe) I will do all this from memory, so I will do my best. First, let me publicly thank Jim Robinson, for the kind freep mail he sent to me. It certainly made us feel better. Thank you again Jim.

I first met Wvkayaker (Page) on one of the threads in early 2013. I think we started freep mailing each other, and started getting to know each other better. At that time, I was courting my girlfriend Menierva, who is now my darling wife. I had already made the long trip to Davao City, to meet her in person, and we had decided we wanted to get married.

I found out that both Page and myself, were Christians, so we had the most important thing in common. Page was already living in Ormoc City, Leyte, the same Island in the Philippines where General Douglas MacArhur landed, after he made his famous saying "people of the Philippines, I shall return." Believe me folks, the Filipinos have NEVER forgotten that. We continued to freep Mail each other. I knew he was kind of looking for a special lady to share his love with. It just so happens, that my wife has a special sister named Marlene. I decided to play Cupid, and proceeded to introduce them together. The rest, as they say, is history. Page and Marlene developed their love relationship, and Page moved from Ormoc City to Davao City, to be with her. That was two weeks before the 2013 super Typhoon, that virtually wiped Tacloban off the map, and did SERIOUS damage to Ormoc City. He told me the house he had been living in, was destroyed, so I like to think I had a hand in saving his life.

By then I had retired from 25 years with the California Department of corrections, after 20 years in the USAF. and in November of 2013, I made my way to Davao City. Who was there to meet me at Bangoy airport? None other than Page and my wife. That was the first time I had ever met him in person. We enjoyed fellowship for several years, as he and Marlene were living a short walk from Menierva and I. Fast forward to 2016. Page fell ill, sad to say, for him and us as well. He was admitted to Brokenshire Memorial Hospital about August 4th. By Sunday, he was moved to intensive care, and we knew it wasn't good. Menierva and Marlene had been at the hospital 24/7. Monday morning, August 8th, my wife called me, in tears, and said I needed to come to the hospital ASAP. I arrived about 11 AM, but there were a bunch of medical staff in the room, so I talked to him as best I could from the hallway. I think he was just waiting for me. Even though I didn't know if he heard me, my wife told me that not only did he hear me, but he saw me too, and it was at that time he gave up, and shortly thereafter, he slipped away and went home to be with Jesus Christ. It was a gut wrenching experience that I have no desire to repeat anytime soon.

It was a privilege to have known Page in person, not just online, but I know the lives of many were enriched by knowing him. He will be missed by all.

Thank you friends, for allowing me to tell the story. 😩

WVKayaker was a fun one. He enjoyed sharing his life with folks at FR.

Sometimes it seems the best just go so fast.

I’m sure he is fighting for truth in God’s Kingdom.

Thanks WVKayaker. You are not forgotten.

I am saddened by this news. I always enjoyed his posts. I hope his family is comforted by the positive impact he had on us.

Anyone who successfully represents himself four times in court against high-powered attorneys, winning, is pushing up there next to “amazing.”

When you add on top of that that he was a Christian and choose his wife and later home based on that, well, you start to lose words to describe such a person.

May his family and friends glorify God and may we all meet in Heaven.

Thanks for posting this. He'll be missed and we do have this promise...

1 Thessalonians 4 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Those Who Died in Christ

13 Now we do not want you to be uninformed, believers, about those who are asleep [in death], so that you will not grieve [for them] as the others do who have no hope [beyond this present life]. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again [as in fact He did], even so God [in this same way—by raising them from the dead] will bring with Him those [believers] who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

Jim—thanks for doing this thread.

Mark—thanks for sharing your stories about Page.

For many months, Page was a regular rider on the Trump Train.

In spite of the 12 hour time difference between EDT and Davao City time, Page managed to be on the many Trump rally threads.

He freely shared about his love for wife, Marlene, his two dogs, and about life in the Philippines.

Page would always share pictures of Marlene’s dinners and deserts, which were tremendous. We often threatened to arrive en masse in Davao City sometime so we could share Marlene’s culinary delights.

If Page did not post, we would let him know he was missed.

When he got sick, many here prayed for him. When the expenses for medical care started to exceed his resources, many here donated money to him.

Page let everyone know that he was relying on His Lord to take care of him.

And so, even as he weakened, his faith did not diminish.

He finished his race, he fought the good fight, he kept the faith, and he was promoted to Glory on August 8th.

It hurts to say goodbye, but for those of us who trust in Jesus Christ, we know the separation is but for a short time.

Please pray for Marlene, his widow,as she adjusts to life without Page, and pray for the Lord to provide for her.

Oh me, I hate hearing this. I just got home from a family funeral for a wonderful Christian lady and now I’m learning that WVKayaker is gone, too. I’ve enjoyed him for a long time. He was one of my Christian FRiends I have come to appreciate so much. I’ll pray for his wife and loved ones.

Prayers up. I am really shocked. We were both sick a lot on the spring Trump threads and I complained so much more than he ever did from my stupid strep throat. He was so kind and freepmailed me in support several times, was so friendly, so casual. He was a great part of those great threads. I don’t want him gone.

Prayers to all who were near and dear to him for comfort. Rest in Peace, WVK. I miss you already.
