Breaking Poll: Rick Perry Leads Ted Cruz by 9 Points in Texas Senate Race
the gateway pundt ^ | 8/18/16 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 08/18/2016 9:24:55 AM PDT by blueyon

Senator Cruz stunned conservatives when he refused to endorse Donald Trump at the RNC Convention in Cleveland. This came after Cruz was thumped in the GOP primary race. Perry leads Cruz in a senate primary matchup 46% to 37%.

The Texas Tribune reported:

A new poll suggests there is at least one fellow Republican who could unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018: Rick Perry.

The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

Picking from Heap Long Wind and Perry LaRaza isn’t too encouraging for Texas.

Cruzing to the pit. Cruz did himself a big favor by not endorsing Trump at the GOP convention hey? He really showed us all.

Then the dildo goes and starts quoting R Reagans speech at the GOP convention during the Ford election. Problem is, the dildo forgot to quote Reagans endorsement of Ford.

Ronald Reagan went on to become the POTUS. Ted Cruz will go on to become NOTHING.

Perry did a good job as governor. However, he is a little “wobbly” on immigration. If in Texas I would vote for him over that weirdo Cruz.

Lyin’ Ted is a lying, Bushie/McConnell/Goldman-Sachs/TPP/NO BORDERS establishmentarian.

The fact he has NOT provided any documentation from his sealed vault that he is a US Citizen makes him even more dangerous to the Constitution.

Add his “Jimmy Swaggart” nasal speaking style is very offputting.

Despite how he acted in the campaign, he is actually smart. It’s a beautiful thing to watch him destroy liberals with pure logic during senate hearings. His hearings on global warming especially stand out. The typical smarmy politician can’t handle science issues like he can.

Never thought I'd be pulling for Perry against ANYONE. Never mind Ted Cruz.

Donald Trump pulled the mask off of many who'd we NEVER have suspected as subversive.

PPP's new Texas poll finds that Ted Cruz has become unpopular in the state, and he
could be in trouble for winning the Republican nomination in 2018. Overall only 39% of voters
in the state approve of the job Cruz is doing, to 48% who disapprove. It was already clear
from national polling that Donald Trump had come out ahead in his feud at the GOP convention
with Cruz, but we find that even in Texas 52% of Republicans now say that they prefer Trump
as their nominee this year to only 38% who would go with Cruz.

The skirmish with Trump seems to be contributing to an overall weakening of Cruz's position
with Republicans in the state. Only 50% of GOP voters say they'd like Cruz to be their Senate
candidate again in 2 years, to 43% who say they would prefer someone else. He hovers right
around that 50% mark in hypothetical match ups against both Michael McCaul (51/19) and Dan Patrick
(49/27). Against Rick Perry though, who shares Cruz's universal name recognition, Cruz
faces a 9 point deficit at 46/37.

Texans down on Cruz

Perry isn’t yet ready to retire? Well, maybe taking Cruz out of the electoral equation can be Perry’s lasting legacy.

I agree, Perry is an open borders/amnesty stooge.
Ted at least pretends to be in favor of the rule of law.
Texas needs a genuine patriot to run for Senate.
Do they have any?

He’s a traitor. I dont give a #### how brilliant he is.

Traitors usually get worse than what he’s getting and I hope he goes down in flame.

I was his YUGEST supporter 2 1/2 months ago.

I amy have NY values but i’ll still have a job in 2 years.

I’ve held my nose and voted for Perry before; looks like I may have to do that again. I’m still thinking that ‘P’ may make a run at it; I’d probably go Cruz over “P”, but Perry would likely get my nod if they were all in a 3 way.

Everybody's acting like Perry would actually run for senator against Cruz.

I never heard that Perry was interested in the senate. Maybe some Texan Freepers can chime in.

You mean you actually prefer a guy (Cruz) who'd rather see Hillary as President than Trump?

Wouldn't her election seem to contradict your tagline, "Democrats kill babies and harvest their organs to sell"?
