Biden: We wrote Japan’s Constitution
Yomiuri Shimbun ^ | August 16, 2016 | Jiji Press

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden on Monday criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s proposal to allow Japan to obtain nuclear weapons, stressing that Japan’s pacifist Constitution was written by the United States.

“Does he not understand we wrote Japan’s constitution to say they could not be a nuclear power?” Biden said in a speech he delivered in Scranton, Pa., for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“Where was he when in school?” Biden asked. “Someone who lacks this judgment cannot be trusted,” he said. “He’s not qualified to know the [nuclear] codes,” the U.S. vice president said.

Trump has suggested that Japan and South Korea be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons to protect themselves without relying on the United States.

Chinese have a good reason to hate Japanese.

Said Joe Biden about Donald Trump, ““Where was he when in school?” Biden asked.
A history lesson, plugs? Let’s see: on youtube we can go watch Katie Couric interview you. You flat out said that when the stock marked crashed Pres. Roosevelt went on tv and assured the American people everything was going to be o.k.
Two problems here, plugs: Roosevelt did not take office until 1932 and tv was not available to the public until much after 1947 or so.

The Koreans hate them even more. WWII is far from over in that part of the world.

Never before have a sitting VP and President took to the campaign trail so aggressively to help prop up their mostly absentee Party's candidate. Bubba is doing what he can, but shouldn't Jimmy Carter also be doing his part?

Biden and 0bama may as well declare themselves part of Hitlery's campaign because they will be standing in for her till the very end.

The Evil Hag is struggling mightily to give the impression she shouldn't be hospitalized as she coughs, wheezes, stumbles, bumbles as well as stunned and startled by lights and noise.

The Dems are between a rock and hard place having jettisoned Bernie and committed to trying to get a sickly ghost elected.

He is actually somewhat correct this time.

“SCAP called for Japanese authorities to write a new constitution. The old constitution which had been adopted in the Meiji Era was modeled on the Prussian constitution and gave all the real authority to the bureaucracy. The government authorities made inconsequential modifications to the old constitution and MacArthur gave up on them making any real changes. Instead he formed a group within SCAP and assigned them to formulating a new Japanese constitution in six days. None of the members of the group had a background in constitutional law. Nevertheless the group came up with a draft that emphasized civil rights. The group formulated the role of the emperor as the symbol of the state and the unity of the Japanese people. MacArthur himself wrote a clause in which Japan renounced military action even in self-defense. MacArthur then pressured the ruling party to promote the legal acceptance of the draft as the constitution of Japan. The conservative ruling party was not in favor of the draft but the emperor supported the draft and there was widespread public support. Everyone knew that it was an American product but most accepted it anyway. MacArthur threatened the ruling party that if it did not ratify the draft then he would call for a public referendum on the draft constitution. If it passed in a referendum after the ruling party declined to pass it then the ruling party would lose face”

MacArthur, a Conservative, and a group of officers devoted to Roosevelt’s New Deal wrote it.

V.P. Joe Biden just humiliated the Japanese, a key ally. Why?

You betcha Joe. Did you lose a brother or a father at Pearl Harbor in the Japanese attack? Many real Americans did. Americans feared Japan’s emperor wanted to attack again. President Truman and Gen. MacArthur were not going to let it happen again.

Admittedly, the Chinese people have historical reasons for antipathy toward Japan. Not excusing Chinese aggression now, but there's a lot of hate over there to go around.

One who studies history would know it goes both ways. There's about 1500 years of bad blood between the Chinese mainland and Japan, in ancient wars. Attacking hordes from China would kidnap Japanese women and tie them to the outside of their boats to humiliate the Japanese. The Japanese got over it regarding old wounds. Not so with the Chinese, because WWII is still fresh in living memory.

The Evil Hag is struggling mightily to give the impression she shouldn't be hospitalized as she coughs, wheezes, stumbles, bumbles as well as stunned and startled by lights and noise.

She's gonna get a heart attack if she takes the office. Way too many problems. Will she blame the previous occupant? She'll have a stroke pondering what to do! Anyway, on Fox a so-called "expert" on politics was touting Hillary's accomplishments. A conservative expert invited to the discussion asked just what is so good about electing Hillary? The liberal replied that if Hillary is elected, we get Bill Clinton for free to take care of things. The conservative retorted "Oh that's just fine for pushing the concept of women's equality, she gets elected because she married Bill but she can't do the job, Bill will!". Liberal was perplexed!

Hillary will throw Japan under the bus, just like Obama has done to our allies.

Biden must think Japan is a U.S. territory (like Puerto Rico). The Japanese People may amend their constitution how ever they want. Does Crazy Uncle Joe think a state of war between us and Japan will resume if Japan amends its constitution in this way?

However Biden has no problem helping Iran along with their nuclear program.

Exaclty! Obama/Biden/Hillary have no problem going around the constitution so why would they adhere to Japans. How about the Iran sanctions, got around those too. So NOW we are to believe they are strict constitutionalists? Or does it apply only when it’s not the U.S. Constitution?

These people a sorry bunch.
