For the first time, elite U.S. Special Operations troops are directly helping fighters combat against ISIS in Libya with on-site support, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing U.S. and Libyan officials.

A small group of U.S. Special Operations forces are operating together with UK troops in Sirte, a city on the Libyan coast and ISIS’ de facto capital in North Africa. The role of the U.S. troops is limited to backing forces loyal to Libya’s unity Government of National Accord (GNA), The Post noted, quoting U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Last week, the U.S. launched precision air strikes against targets of ISIS in its stronghold Sirte in order to back the efforts of GNA-affiliated troops to defeat ISIS in the city.

The U.S. strikes have hit nearly 30 militant targets so far, according to The Post.

No, no no and no. We need to get out of there. There is no 'side' to support there.

I will ask the same damned question I asked when Obama bombed Libya in the first place,
has Congress issued a Declaration of War?

if not, then...... when will Congress file Articles of Impeachment???! (and cut off the damned funding)

A First? I’d guess that this is not the first time. Who publicises these ops anyway?

Definitely not the first. There was an article posted on FR a couple of months ago about SpecOps teams on the ground in Libya. They probably weren’t the first.

Oh.....so Hillary DIDN’T get ALL of Qadaffi’s gold.

Good old Hillary.

She’s not afraid to spend a billion American tax dollars so she can make a buck.

There used to be a stable government in Libya, I wonder what happened to it.

It's not all about gold. Apache Oil has wells in Western Egypt. Benghazi is the nearest port. Toppling Qaddaffi (and Egypt's regime, but of course) was about about gold, Libya money in Italian banks, and oil.

This time, it's probably about that dang oil and its nearest port.

The Obama administration repeatedly promised there would be no boots on the ground.

Where is the resolution of Congress??

Ok, I get it. Enough to make headlines and a pretense that we're doing something but not enough to do any good. When will Obama/Hellary decide they're expendable?

It must be embarrassing for the Obama administration, to have brought ISIS from a couple hundred people to ver 100,000 and now to have killed half of those terrorists your helped create.

All we are doing is arming and training the next batch of ISIS fighters. This is going to make northern Africa look like Syria real soon.

No, no no and no. We need to get out of there. There is no 'side' to support there.

In general, my opinion is that whichever side is likely to stabilize a country and behave to some degree is the side that should be favored when deciding which group to support. I am sure there is a faction in Libya that meets that criterion. In Syria, it would be Assad.

Note: the above is not an endorsement of getting involved in Libya or backing Assad. Since Russia seems willing to get into Syria, we should let them. I do not want to get into Libya. We have been over committed for the past decade and a half (one could reasonably argue since the end of WW2/Korea).

They wouldn't be there if that decision wasn't already made.

I’m no Khaddafi fan, but hey, sorry, after Reagan blasted the living sh*t out of him, he did reform and behave, more or less.

Hillary knew she’d be running and recalled that the one huge area that Bill had screwed up with had been in doing nothing in the face of the very real Rwanda massacre, when Hutus and Tsutsis were gouging out each other’s eyeballs with screwdrivers, etc (full disclosure —I’m completely against military adventurism in Africa, viewing it as ultimately fruitless).

So THAT is why she got proactive on Libya, mostly, other than steering contracts to buddies of Syndey Blumenthal, et al.

She didn’t want anyone to be able to say, “Hillary why did you do nothing during the Libyan civil war..?”

But in fact there were NO massacres by Khaddafi, of course.

THIS IS ALL HER BABY, gayMuzzieBarak’s interest was tepid at first —Hillary PUSHED AND PUSHED AND PUSHED.

Libya is HERS.

For the first time, elite U.S. Special Operations troops are directly helping fighters combat against ISIS in Libya with on-site support, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing U.S. and Libyan officials.

Ummmmm, No. CIA Special Farces have been active there for months and months.

The role of the U.S. troops is limited to backing forces loyal to Libya’s unity Government of National Accord (GNA), The Post noted, quoting U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Ummmmm, No. They are there to kill whomever the CIA tells them to kill. Wakey, wakey, smell the bakey.

Here's the reality:

1) CIA - Special Farces and their Jihadi comrades are still trying to kill Assad and overthrow Syria, part of CIA Operation Arab Spring, which borders Israel

2) Jordan, which borders Israel, is a major CIA - Special Farces base and CIA - SOF - Jihadi training center.

3) Egypt, which borders Israel, for a short time fell victim to the CIA's Operation Spring & Muslim Brotherhood installation, but Egyptian Army Patriots fixed that.

4) Libya, another casualty of CIA Operation Arab Spring, borders Egypt which borders Israel. CIA - Special Farces are in charge as they are in the many failed states they recently created.

5) Turkey and its recent coup-Jihadification, borders Syria, which borders Israel.

Israel is completely surrounded by the CIA-SOF destabilization, overthrow, assassination, and Jihadi installation efforts.

All to keep the "homeland" safe from "extremists..."

FU CIA.
