$52 million to $0: That's how much Hillary's campaign is outspending Trump's on TV ads
Business Insider ^ | 8/10/2016 | Allan Smith

Donald Trump's campaign has spent $0 on TV ads in the general-election season — a big drop off from the $52 million being spent by Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Recently released ad-spending data from Advertising Analytics showed that Trump's campaign not only spent astronomically less than Clinton's, but also those of Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein.

However, pro-Trump PACs have spent more than $8 million on TV ads during the general-election cycle — still a significant decline from pro-Clinton groups spending more than $37 million.

After a slow start, Trump's fundraising has picked up steam, with the candidate pulling in roughly $80 million last month. Clinton's campaign reported $90 million in fundraising last month.

but I really do think he needs to start SUPER_SPENDING on both ads and poll-watchers

Several things here:

(1) It's August, the hottest and most miserable month of the year. Nobody is paying attention to the race right now except die-hard political watchers and the beltway class.

(2) Trump supporters aren't going to be swayed by Hillary's, DNC's, or any other pro-Hillary PAC ads. Their (our) minds are made up - We aren't going to stop our intention of voting for Trump just because some ad says so.

(3) 30-second television ads (and robocalls) are obsolete. If Trump does roll out ads, expect him to roll out short video clips about the issues and his life story. These video clips will be streaming on mobile devices or on home streaming systems such as Roku. Or they'll be ads embedded in popular websites and blogs.

(4) Trump is already famous. He doesn't have to reintroduce himself. People know who he is and those who are curious will do their own research and understand the issues.

(5) Trump's rallies are in the tens of thousands while Hillary is getting no more than classroom-sized audiences. That's his ground game right there - the rallies.

Trump will lose if he doesn’t start TV ads now. Not tomorrow but NOW!

Trump for President.

agreed with all or most of that

but please consider....

Hillary’s backers are controlling Trump’s messages now, distorting them savagely....

he can probably only control them if he pays for them.....

also,
there are less than 3 months left to election day
and
MANY PEOPLE VOTE EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He did, she’s only getting into the territory, give it until after Labor Day.

Obviously I don’t know Trumps plans, but I would not be surprised if he holds off until the last four or five weeks.

He knows how to do these things better than anyone else, especially Hillary.

Gonna give a bunch of Freepers aneurysms.

I understand the need to control the message. However, I am not sure Trump wants to give money to a media that is dedicated to destroying him and the MAGA movement. Starve the beast!

That is because she can’t talk!! She is hopelessly brain damaged and cannot do any press conference or appearances that are not scripted and closed. She is very sick. We need her medical records immediately!!

I believe Jebbie spent over $100,000,000.

Yup, and the instant-gratification, pearl-clutching, nervous-nellies want Trump to waste money running ads that no one will remember three months from now.

Trump didn't knock off 16 others and become a billionaire, international business tycoon by using poor judgement spending money.

Strategy.

Potential Trump voters already know what his agenda is. What needs to be advertised is how crooked Hillary amassed a $100 million fortune. After in her own words “we came out of the white house broke and in debt”.

Hillary thinks like a 1990's politician--run lots of TV ads.

Only one problem: it's 2016. Donald Trump--studying the way one Barack Obama used social media in 2008 and 2012--has a GIGANTIC presence on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. As such, despite what the polls say, the Trump campaign has a LOT of traction and it appears Hillary is going to start burning through a lot of cash in a hurry.

Who watches live TV anymore? Even my 86 & 88 year old parents fast forward through every commercial or watch YouTube videos on their IPads.

I agree. It is not the same election game anymore. People are watching less TV, doing more social media, reading less—including newspapers—and the paradigm has changed. Trump knows this and I hope he is prepared. The usual ad buys on TV won’t work. Have you noticed that almost every website you visit has an ad with Trump’s image? He is using the available technology in a new, smart way. I hope it works.

I'm saving my vapors until November.

But then again, it'll be deer season, so it'll be all good.
